Thanh Khe District Veterans Association currently has 3,141 members. In recent years, the emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans" has been comprehensively implemented, associated with the patriotic emulation movement and the direction of local Party committees and authorities. Notably, the movement "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" for members has promoted the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance, thereby building many warm homes for comrades, helping poor veterans settle down, overcome difficulties, and stabilize their lives. The District Veterans Association has encouraged cadres and members to participate in contributing and supporting the repair and construction of houses for members in difficulty with an amount of 95 million VND.

In mid-March 2025, the City Veterans Association supported desktop computers, printers, online conference webcams, cameras, televisions and brackets for the cultural houses of 3 villages: Hoa Phat, Hoa Tho and Phu Tuc (Hoa Phu commune, Hoa Vang district) with a total cost of nearly 130 million VND. In addition, the association provided financial support for repairing and building new houses for 3 disadvantaged members of Hoa Phu, Hoa Phuoc and Hoa Bac communes with a total value of nearly 200 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Loi (a veteran of Hoa Phuoc commune) shared: “I am excited and touched to receive support from units and the Veterans Association. This is a great encouragement for me. The old house was degraded, every time the rainy season comes, I always feel worried and insecure. Now, thanks to the help of the community, I have a new, more solid and secure home.”

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Buu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Phu Commune, in 2024, the City Veterans Association supported 5 villages (Hoa Hai, Hoa Phuoc, Dong Lam, An Chau and Hoi Phuoc) with many modern and high-quality equipment. In 2025, the association continued to support the remaining 3 villages and presented a house to a member. These are meaningful gifts, not only a great source of encouragement and strength but also a strong motivation for members to actively participate in local movements. Thereby, helping to improve the quality of life of the people, at the same time, demonstrating the community's concern and sharing for veterans. This also affirms the positive role of the veteran force in the construction of new rural areas.

Implementing the policy of joining hands to care for the poor during Tet and the program "Spring of solidarity", all levels of the association actively participated in the work of gratitude, mobilizing more than 7,000 gifts worth more than 3 billion VND; coordinating to give 3,642 gifts worth more than 2 billion VND to cadres and members in difficult circumstances. In particular, the city's Association of War Veterans mobilized cadres and members to contribute more than 800 million VND to build and repair 18 "War Veterans' Gratitude" houses. To date, 14/18 houses have been started, with a total cost of more than 700 million VND.

In recent years, the City Veterans Association has proactively coordinated with sectors and organizations to promote propaganda work, helping cadres and members raise awareness of the meaning and purpose of the new rural construction program; at the same time, building and implementing appropriate activity programs, close to the actual situation of the locality.

Chairman of the City Veterans Association Truong Chi Lang said that supporting housing for families with meritorious services, poor households, near-poor households, and members in difficult circumstances is a meaningful work, demonstrating the spirit of responsibility, mutual love, helping families have a solid home, work with peace of mind and improve their lives. The Association will direct all levels of the Association to assign members to monitor and support working days and materials, with the spirit of everyone contributing what they have, whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has little contributes little.
