Cuong Dam makes his mark with his first solo exhibition

Paramount is the first solo exhibition of designer and Creative Director Cuong Dam. The opening event on the evening of November 26 in Ho Chi Minh City marks a new turning point in his creative journey following the highlights from the Rendezvous catwalk, the Figure collection and the Inflowing fashion space.

Paramount sets a new frame of reference for the concept of God. God is not far away but exists inside each person, going through countless slices waiting for the moment to be released. The entire exhibition is arranged into 3 separate spaces corresponding to the stages of exploring the depth of the inner self.

The Seed is the opening space where the child is born from the mother and also the first moment of meeting between the child and the god within each person. "The starting point of the ultimate god resides within each individual," the artist confided.

The 16 works in the central space of The Versions are the author's inner dialogue. The works are displayed in a symmetrical layout following an ellipse, symbolizing two groups of emotions: Sensual and Rational.

The journey of human development is spread out through 16 works in the space of The Versions .

Accordingly, The Source, Amanok represents the image of mother and father - the first two great people a child meets in life. Viewers encounter themselves in The First Sense of Self , the first frame each person builds for themselves; going through the complexities of Racing Heart, Body Heat or the journey to find the self from the "darkness" of Eclipse, The Cut and Labyrinth .

As the struggles between light and dark, hidden and revealed are closely linked, Apatheia gradually appears. This is a state of mind unaffected by negative emotions, fear or passion, leaving only serenity and a powerful source of energy from within. An open ending, a god waiting to be revealed right after the One Soul.

The Versions space is like a maze of the mind, where each individual dialogues with countless versions of "me" that coexist on the journey to find the highest self.

The large communal space is like a "temple" but without any religious overtones. There, with the main language being fabric combined with statues, sculptures, light and sound performances, the male artist shares his journey of discovering his own inner self.

The final space, named after the exhibition - Paramount , takes visitors into the prayer room of the ultimate self. Here, each person discovers that the god is not the supreme being outside, but the “higher self” - the divine part that exists deep inside each person.

In the space of moving light and quiet sound, the contradictions are finally reconciled. There is no longer a binary between good and bad, right and wrong, but every experience – even the most deeply painful ones – becomes a necessary part of the multidimensional picture called life.

The male artist said that despite facing great fear when having to expose both his weaknesses and strengths through the exhibition, he still chose to commit, thereby giving the audience an honest contemplation of the concept of "the god within oneself".

"I want to dedicate these works to those who have lost faith in themselves, that the vast, powerful self is always here, inside you, just waiting to be released. Only you are brave enough to take the initiative to determine your own destiny," said Cuong Dam.

Next to the exhibition is a Pop up like a small shop, where Hanoi artists introduce fashion designs from CDam and Chats by CDam as an experimental and exploratory activity with fashion followers in Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region.
