Over the past two weekends, hundreds of young people with a passion for discovery chose the trekking route to see the chi pau flowers on the top of Ta Chi Nhu (Tram Tau district, Yen Bai). Postponing the cloud hunting schedule by more than 2 weeks compared to the plan, although mentally prepared that there would be many tourists coming to Ta Chi Nhu, Thua Hoa (Hanoi) was still quite surprised by the unimaginable number of visitors. One group after another went down the mountain and another group came up.

Planning to conquer Ta Chi Nhu peak in mid-August, however, due to the impact of storm Yagi, which caused landslides and flash floods in many locations in the northern mountainous provinces, the trip of Thua Hoa's group was postponed twice to ensure safety. "At first, our group planned to go hunting for chi pau flowers on September 28 and 29, but it was still raining heavily at that time, so everyone was confused and decided to postpone the trip. During the waiting time, the whole group continuously updated the weather situation, as soon as the sun was nice and the road was safe, we would set off immediately," Thua Hoa shared.

On Friday afternoon, right after work, Thua Hoa's group of 12 members made an appointment to take the night bus to Tram Tau district. At around 8am on October 12, the group started climbing from Tram Tau. After about 2 hours of climbing, the group stopped to rest and regain strength. On the first night, the group slept at a rest hut at an altitude of 2,400m.

The next day, the journey to conquer Ta Chi Nhu continued before 4am. The whole journey was covered in fog, the person behind determined the position of the person in front by the light of a lamp. After more than an hour, the whole group officially set foot on the top of Ta Chi Nhu but the surroundings were still foggy. "At this point, our group determined that it would be difficult to hunt clouds, but at around 6:30am the sun started to rise and before our eyes appeared a sea of clouds floating as far as the eye could see. The feeling was great and all the efforts were worth it," Thua Hoa recounted.

Mr. Hoang Gia - porter of Ta Chi Nhu trekking - said that since the weather became more beautiful after the storm, every week there are a lot of tourists coming to Ta Chi Nhu because this is both the season of cloud hunting and the season of chi pau flowers on the mountain top. On average, every weekend there are several hundred tourists coming to check-in at the 2,979-meter high mountain peak in Tram Tau district. Each 2-day-1-night journey to conquer Ta Chi Nhu peak costs between 3 and 3.3 million VND. The chi pau flower season is expected to last until the end of October. According to Thua Hoa, if you choose to hunt clouds and see chi pau flowers on Ta Chi Nhu peak this time, tourists should train their endurance in advance and monitor the weather closely. In particular, tourists need to bring enough clothes because the temperature difference between day and night is quite large.
