Cristiano Ronaldo added to his personal trophy collection after beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to win the Maradona Award for Best Goalscorer of 2023.

The Maradona Award, named after the Argentine legend, is one of the Globe Soccer Awards, presented annually in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) to honor the player with the most goals of the year.
Ronaldo has excelled over Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane to win this prestigious award, thanks to leading the number of goals in 2023 with 54 goals after 59 matches.
Behind Ronaldo are Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe (52 goals in 53 games) and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane (52 goals in 57 games), while Man City's Erling Haaland finished 2023 with 50 goals in 60 games.
The latest award is the result of 12 months of hard work for the striker, who is about to turn 39, when he scored 34 goals for Saudi Pro League title challengers Al Nassr.
The Globe Soccer Awards began handing out the Maradona Award, named after the 1986 World Cup winner with Argentina, in 2021. The inaugural winner was striker Robert Lewandowski.
However, in 2022, this award was absent from the list of 20 awards presented. Ronaldo was the second winner.
The Portuguese star is also a strong candidate to compete for the Best Men's Player, Best Middle Eastern Player and Fans' Favorite Player awards at the Dubai Globe Soccer awards ceremony which will take place on January 19.
