On January 1, Bac Giang City Police said that the unit is temporarily detaining Nguyen Thanh Tam (born in 1984, residing at 225-B5, Tan Mai Street, Tan Mai Ward, Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) to investigate the act of resisting a law enforcement officer when being tested for alcohol concentration.
Previously, at around 8:00 p.m. on December 31, 2023, the Bac Giang City Traffic Police Team on duty on Hoang Hoa Tham Street (section through Song Mai Commune) signaled to stop a pickup truck with license plate 29K - 055.41 traveling in the direction of Bac Giang City - Tan Yen District for inspection.
However, the driver did not comply and turned around to run away. The Bac Giang City Police task force immediately mobilized vehicles to chase after him. The pickup truck driver recklessly crashed into the police vehicle and continued to resist.
After being stopped, the driver refused to get out of the car to work, forcing the police to break the window and control him.
The driver was identified as Nguyen Thanh Tam (born in 1984), currently residing at 225-B5, Tan Mai Street, Tan Mai Ward, Hoang Mai District (Hanoi). Through alcohol testing, Tam violated the level of 0.595 mg/1 liter of breath (exceeding the maximum limit).
At the police station, Tam confessed that he had previously consumed alcohol and driven a car from Dong village, Huong Gian commune, Yen Dung district to Cao Xa commune, Tan Yen district (Bac Giang). When he reached Hoang Hoa Tham street, the incident occurred.
