Ha Nam police inform about Pretty Vina Company Limited smuggling and tax evasion case

The Investigation Security Agency of Ha Nam Province Police has just prosecuted a case and prosecuted 5 defendants for the crime of Smuggling and Illegal transportation of goods across the border at Pretty Vina Company Limited (address: Hoa Mac Industrial Park, Duy Tien town, Ha Nam province).

Previously, on April 2, 2024, Market Management Team No. 2, Ha Nam Provincial Market Management Department coordinated with the Economic Security Department of Ha Nam Provincial Police to inspect Pretty Vina Company Limited. At the time of inspection, the authorities discovered a large quantity of goods including fake nails made of plastic; decorative beads, decorative strings of all kinds made of plastic, metal, glass used for fake nails; various types of glitter, originating from China, without product labels, the company representative could not present invoices, vouchers, customs declarations, accompanying documents for imported goods as prescribed. The total value of the shipment was about 51 billion VND.

Initial investigation determined that the above goods were ordered directly from China by the company's purchasing department via a wechat account. Some of these ordered goods were not declared to customs, and the processing time was prolonged.

According to legal regulations, the above mentioned quantity of goods shows signs of being smuggled goods. At the same time, it was initially determined that Pretty Vina Company Limited had signs of directly importing smuggled goods from China, the implementation time was long, the value of the goods was large, and there were signs of criminal violations, so Market Management Team No. 2, Market Management Department of Ha Nam province transferred all documents and exhibits to the Nam Province Police for investigation and handling according to the provisions of law.

On May 15, 2024, the Investigation Security Agency of Ha Nam Provincial Police initiated a criminal case of "Smuggling" and "Illegal transportation of goods across the border" as prescribed in Clause 4, Article 188 and Clause 3, Article 189 of the Penal Code. At the same time, prosecuted 5 related defendants.

Pretty Vina Company Limited is a 100% foreign-invested enterprise with an American as its General Director, the value of the infringing goods was determined to be about 51 billion VND. Ha Nam police assessed that this was a very complicated case, the criminals were foreigners, the activities were organized, the quantity of infringing goods was very large, and it took place over a long period of time without being detected, causing loss of state budget revenue. The discovery, fight to destroy, and handling of the case demonstrated the spirit of "respect for the law", resolutely attacking and suppressing crime, with no forbidden areas and no exceptions.

With the results and achievements, the Economic Security Department of the Provincial Police, Market Management Team No. 2, Market Management Department of Ha Nam province and 5 individuals received a Letter of Commendation and Certificate of Merit from Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang; a collective and 26 individuals were commended by the Director of Ha Nam Provincial Police.

On the afternoon of November 7, 2024, Ha Nam Provincial Police organized an award ceremony for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against, detecting, inspecting, and verifying cases of smuggling, illegal transportation of goods across the border, and tax evasion, occurring at Pretty Vina Company Limited.
