While preparing to open its first store in Vietnam, the Chagee milk tea brand has been embroiled in controversy regarding the display of the “cow tongue line” on its app and website.

Some customers reported that when logging into the Chagee app, there was an image of a map containing the illegal nine-dash line. Amidst the strong public reaction, Chagee quietly deleted the application from the Google Play Store and App Store online stores. The link previously advertised by Chagee Vietnam is currently inaccessible.

As of March 15, Chagee's app no longer shows settings in the Vietnam region. When users access it, the platforms notify "App is currently not available in your region".

Meanwhile, the Chagee HK app still displays this map. The Chagee website also contains a map with the illegal 9-dash line.

On the Chagee Vietnam fanpage, many users expressed their anger towards this milk tea brand and requested feedback. However, domestic consumers have yet to receive official information from Chagee Vietnam.

Chagee is a premium milk tea brand originating from China. The first Chagee store opened in November 2017 in Yunnan, China. Chagee then expanded throughout China and Asian markets such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. The brand has more than 6,000 stores worldwide.

In Vietnam, Chagee is preparing to open its first store in Ho Chi Minh City.

Recently, domestic consumers also called for a boycott of Baby Three dolls after public opinion reflected the appearance of images similar to the "cow tongue line" on Baby Three Tho Thi Tran version 2. After public opinion reflected, market management forces also stepped in and increased inspections.
