As a land with a rich cultural history, Binh Thuan owns many historical and cultural relics, including relics that have a high revolutionary tradition education value for the younger generation. This is an invaluable resource for further developing source tourism.
Great potential
Root tourism has been and is being interested by many people, because it is not simply a tourist trip but a very practical cultural journey with profound humanistic meaning. Specifically, root tourism contains many social meanings, providing practical, vivid information about history and culture, has educational significance, arouses patriotism, national pride and shows gratitude and remembrance.
If in the past, the main target of origin tourism was veterans, relatives of martyrs, revolutionary families, or youth organizations and students coming to study, pay tribute and remember their ancestors, in recent years, many origin tourism tours have attracted many young tourists.
In Binh Thuan, a province with a rich cultural history, there are more than 300 historical - cultural relics and scenic spots that have been researched and protected. Of these, 28 relics are ranked at the national level and 44 relics are ranked at the provincial level. Most of the relics contain typical values in architecture, art, history, culture and are being preserved and promoted to serve the cultural, spiritual and religious needs of the people. This is an invaluable resource for developing source tourism. In recent times, many relics have been introduced and effectively served the development of tourism and culture such as: Truong Duc Thanh relic, Po Sah Inu tower, Thuy Tu temple (Phan Thiet), Ta Cu mountain pagoda (Ham Thuan Nam), Dinh Thay Thim (La Gi), Co Thach pagoda (Tuy Phong), Linh Quang pagoda, An Thanh temple, Ban Tranh princess temple (Phu Quy)... and not to mention other "red addresses" such as the Provincial Party Committee Base relic site in Dong Giang, Ham Thuan Bac district...
These relics have attracted many tourists to visit, research and study. Typically, the Sa Lon Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site was only inaugurated in early 2023, but has so far attracted nearly 30,000 visitors to visit, study, research, collect documents, images and artifacts. Meanwhile, the Duc Thanh School Relic Site, in 2023, the number of visitors to visit and organize ceremonies, political activities was 165,718 people, serving 388 ceremonies, reporting achievements, commendation, military departure ceremonies, Party admission, awarding certificates of merit, thematic activities... increased significantly compared to previous years. Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Binh Thuan branch, Dang Van Hung, said that the number of visitors to the Duc Thanh School Relic Site and the Ho Chi Minh Museum is increasing. In addition to delegations from the Central to local levels coming to visit, report achievements, military departure ceremonies, Party admission ceremonies... and students coming to study, many domestic and foreign tourists come to visit and learn about culture and history.
With such great potential, in recent years Binh Thuan has only focused on sea tourism, forest and lake eco-tourism, and has not yet promoted this type of tourism.
Increase attractiveness
In recent years, Binh Thuan has had many relics preserved, renovated, restored, and restored... Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Bui The Nhan once answered the press: Binh Thuan focuses on restoring, preserving, and conserving traditional cultural values, historical relics, festival culture, and traditional craft villages; developing souvenir products and typical local cuisine to create a difference and uniqueness for local tourism products. The province invested in building the Binh Thuan Museum and the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee Base Relic Site during the anti-American resistance war to preserve, introduce, and promote the history and culture of the province in conjunction with synchronously developing tourism potential.
However, many relics are still limited in investment in restoration, not attracting many tourists to improve the level of tourism back to the source. To make tourism back to the source more attractive to tourists, contributing to enriching the province's tourism. In the coming time, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will coordinate with authorities at all levels to continue to promote historical and revolutionary relics; mobilize resources to restore and embellish relic sites, focus on investing in more infrastructure as well as strengthening connections with neighboring provinces, diversifying tourism products back to the source so that the relics become attractive destinations, attracting tourists.
