NDO - At 3:00 p.m. today (local time), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly arrived at Changi International Airport, beginning an official visit to the Republic of Singapore at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng.
This official visit to the Republic of Singapore aims to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the Politburo; and promote the cooperative relationship between our National Assembly and the Singaporean National Assembly.
Welcoming the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, his wife and the delegation were representatives of the Singapore-Southeast Asia Friendship Parliamentary Group; Southeast Asia Department 2 - Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials of the Singaporean National Assembly; Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung and officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore.

The visit also aims to promote the Vietnam-Singapore strategic partnership; share information and experience in parliamentary activities between Vietnam and Singapore; and demonstrate the Party and State's concern for the overseas Vietnamese community.
At the same time, this is an opportunity for the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean Parliament to discuss international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Accompanying National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife were Party Central Committee members: Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee; Le Quang Tung, Secretary General of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly Office; Nguyen Thuy Anh, Chairman of the Social Committee; Le Quang Huy, Chairman of the Science, Technology and Environment Committee; Le Quang Manh, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee;

Vietnam currently has 153 valid investment projects in Singapore, with a total registered capital of more than 690 million USD (ranked 10th out of 80 countries and territories with investment capital from Vietnam), focusing on the fields of science and technology; wholesale and retail; information and communications; real estate, processing and manufacturing industries...
The relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean National Assembly has continued to be maintained and developed well over the years on both bilateral and multilateral levels. On the bilateral level, the two sides maintain exchanges of high-level delegations and at all levels, between specialized committees and parliamentarians.
During the visit to Vietnam of former Speaker of the Singaporean Parliament Tan Chuan Jin (May 2022), the two sides signed a Cooperation Agreement between the National Assembly of Vietnam and Singapore, creating a solid foundation to further promote cooperation between the two parliaments.
Recently, within the framework of the 45th AIPA General Assembly in Laos (October 2024), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man had a bilateral meeting with Singaporean National Assembly Chairman Seah Kian Peng; discussed bilateral cooperation in all channels and fields and the two Legislative Bodies; agreed to strengthen cooperation, increase exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels, coordinate to support each other's stance at regional and international multilateral forums; and elevate the relationship between the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at an appropriate time.
In addition, the exchange activities between parliamentarians, young parliamentarians, and female parliamentarians of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Singaporean National Assembly have made practical contributions to promoting relations between the two legislative bodies, thereby creating momentum to spread and bring the Vietnam - Singapore Strategic Partnership into deeper and more substantial depth.

Singapore is the first country in ASEAN to establish an annual meeting mechanism between the two Prime Ministers (the first meeting will be in October 2024). The cooperative relationship between the two ruling parties has developed well, in which cooperation in training and fostering strategic-level officials is a bright spot.
Economically, in the first 9 months of 2024, the total two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Singapore reached 7.6 billion USD, an increase of 12.7% over the same period in 2023.
Singapore is Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in ASEAN with more than 3,800 valid projects and a total accumulated investment capital of more than 81 billion USD. Singapore currently ranks second out of 145 countries and territories investing in Vietnam.
The Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIP) network is a symbol of successful economic cooperation between the two countries.
Singaporean investors have participated in most of Vietnam's economic sectors and fields (18/21 sectors) in 51/63 provinces and cities of Vietnam, led by Ho Chi Minh City (19.3%), Hanoi ranked second (10.8%), Bac Ninh ranked third (7.6%), followed by Binh Duong (capital of VSIP), Long An, Quang Nam.
