Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of PNJ, is the only Vietnamese person to be honored as one of the 40 most outstanding icons of the world jewelry industry, at the JWA Awards (Jewelry World Awards) 2023 recently held in Hong Kong, China.
"Female general" of the jewelry industry
According to the organizers, Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Dung is the first Vietnamese person to be included in the list of 40 people who have made history in the world jewelry industry. Among the 40 honored people, Ms. Ngoc Dung is one of 4 women to receive this award. This year's award has only one category, "Extraordinary 40", to honor 40 people around the world who have pioneered and created an epoch-making influence in the jewelry industry in their home countries.
“I can think of no more fitting way to celebrate JWA’s 40th anniversary than by celebrating 40 of the industry’s most iconic figures,” said David Bondi, Senior Vice President, Informa Markets Asia, representing the organisers. “Together we have shaped the past and the present. Together we continue to shape the future of our industry.”
On the JWA awards website, the organizers noted: “Under the leadership of the "female general" of the jewelry industry Cao Thi Ngoc Dung, PNJ has grown from an initial team of 20 people to become the largest jewelry retailer in Vietnam with nearly 400 stores nationwide and more than 7,000 employees working hard to serve customers.”
At the award ceremony, Ms. Dung thanked her family, organizers, partners, customers and more than 7,000 PNJ employees "who together created a magical journey".
35 years of reaching out and making a name
When recalling her 35-year journey of dedication to the jewelry industry, Ms. Dung was moved and said: “35 years ago, when I was assigned the task of building a gold, silver and gemstone business unit - the predecessor of today's PNJ company, my team of artisans and I had the same dream. That was to restore and develop the Vietnamese jewelry industry, worthy of the country's history, reaching out to make a name on the world jewelry map. Over time, many things have changed in the flow of history. However, the only thing that has never changed at PNJ is belief. And that belief has been persistently proven by PNJ through concrete actions over the past 35 years.”
According to Ms. Dung, at PNJ, people are the most valuable asset. PNJ is proud to take care of each other like a family and together take care of many other people in the community. PNJ has a mission to honor the beauty of people and life. In addition, this enterprise devotes much effort to social activities with the goal of developing education, developing people, improving the living environment, connecting organizations and businesses.
With the philosophy of "putting customer interests and social interests into the interests of the enterprise", PNJ is one of the typical sustainable development enterprises in Asia over the years. Previously, in 2019, Ms. Dung was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement" award by JNA (Asian Jewelry Awards - the predecessor of today's JWA). In 2021, PNJ was also honored by JWA as "Best Jewelry Manufacturer and Craftsman".
