President Vo Van Thuong receives Lao Prime Minister

President Vo Van Thuong expressed his pleasure to meet Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone again on the occasion of the Prime Minister leading a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Government to officially visit Vietnam and co-chair the 46th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

President Vo Van Thuong believes that Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone's official visit to Vietnam this time will create new momentum, bringing about substantial results, commensurate with the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

The President affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam always give the highest priority to the Vietnam - Laos relationship.

President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the important achievements that the Lao people under the leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and the direction and administration of the Lao Government have achieved in recent times; expressed his belief that Laos will continue to achieve many new achievements in socio-economic development; continue to successfully build a peaceful, independent, unified, democratic and prosperous Laos; and have an increasingly high position in the region and the world.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone expressed his pleasure to make his first official visit to Vietnam in his new position and to meet President Vo Van Thuong again; highly appreciated the results of the President's official friendship visit to Laos in April 2023; and conveyed the greetings of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith to President Vo Van Thuong.

The Lao Prime Minister highly appreciated the important achievements that Vietnam has gained in recent years, emphasizing that these are a great source of motivation for Laos to make further efforts in the process of economic development and national construction.

The Lao Prime Minister expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the Vietnamese people will successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Socio-Economic Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period.

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also emphasized that the Lao Party, State and people always remember and are grateful for Vietnam's wholehearted and sincere assistance to Laos in the past struggle for national independence, as well as in the current cause of national construction, protection and development.

The Lao Prime Minister highly appreciated the investment of Vietnamese enterprises in Laos, contributing positively to the economic and social development of Laos.

The two sides highly appreciated the strong and comprehensive development of Vietnam - Laos cooperation in all fields in recent times.

The two sides agreed to continue to maintain high-level visits and contacts; effectively implement important agreements between the two Parties and countries; promote cooperation in the fields of security, defense and diplomacy; continue to focus on education and propaganda, raising awareness of the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, about the close historical tradition, loyalty and achievements of the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos; at the same time, continuously promote cooperation in other fields such as economy, trade and investment, education, training, tourism; in which, focus on coordinating and connecting tourism cooperation activities on the basis of the Laos Tourism Year 2024 and the program "One journey, three destinations".

President Vo Van Thuong stressed that the two sides need to continue promoting the exceptionally good political relationship; closely coordinate to effectively implement cooperation plans and projects to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Vietnam will always stand side by side with Laos to help it fulfill its international responsibilities in 2024, contributing to enhancing Laos' position and contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Through Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, President Vo Van Thuong sent his warm regards and best wishes to Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and other senior Lao leaders.
