‏"Do you think beauty pageants need to be more democratized, allowing overweight and disabled contestants to participate?" or "Do you think capitalism caused the global crisis we have now? As well as global warming"…

‏‏Miss Mai Phuong replied: "Everyone in the world wants to benefit from whatever field they are working in and whoever they meet, as long as it is for the common good and this also means climate change. I don't think it's about capitalism, but about how we live our daily lives, the emissions we create and the water resources we use.

Maybe people think about the factories, where people make money and are emitting emissions everywhere. And then we are the end customers. But I think it all comes from us, we are the demand side and we have caused climate change not because of capitalism itself but because of individual demand that creates all this change in the environment."

However, the teachers also commented that Mai Phuong's views needed to be clearer instead of choosing a safe neutral option.
