Since October, taking advantage of favorable weather, 100% of the workforce of Ke Go Main Canal Cluster (Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited) has simultaneously started to do internal irrigation on the main canal and N3 canal (Cam Xuyen district).
Many tasks were carried out such as: weeding the canal banks, collecting garbage, animal carcasses, and rocks remaining in the canal to avoid causing flow congestion; dredging the canal bed and reinforcing and maintaining degraded areas...
Ke Go main canal cluster mobilized forces to carry out irrigation works on the main canal and N3 canal (Cam Xuyen).
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Head of Ke Go Main Canal Cluster said: "We manage and do internal irrigation for 12km of main canal and 5km of N3 canal along with 28 large and small irrigation sluices. This is the deepest, widest and steepest canal in Ha Tinh, so internal irrigation is quite difficult and takes more time than other areas. We strive to complete the workload before December 20, 2023 to create conditions for people to start producing the new crop."
Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited currently manages and operates 33 reservoirs, 4 dams, 1 saltwater-prevention and freshwater-retention sluice, 438 km of intra-field canals and more than 1,000 irrigation sluices in the districts of Ky Anh, Cam Xuyen, Thach Ha, Huong Khe, Ky Anh town and Ha Tinh city. Currently, 16 clusters and stations under the company have arranged maximum manpower to organize intra-field irrigation, creating conditions for supplying irrigation water for 22,000 hectares of spring rice crop 2024.
Mr. Dang Hoa Binh - Head of Management and Exploitation Department (Nam Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited) informed: "Recently, due to the impact of floods, many irrigation systems have been damaged and degraded, especially the irrigation canal system has been eroded and silted, obstructing the flow, affecting irrigation for production. After the last two floods, the company continued to direct clusters and stations to inspect the entire system of dams, canals and saltwater prevention and freshwater retention works; determine the current status of the works and agree on repair measures (if any) to ensure safe water supply for the 2024 spring crop production".
Ha Tinh launched a movement for the whole people to join in irrigation work from November 15, 2023 to January 31, 2024.
At this time, Bac Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited is also focusing on irrigation work and maintenance and repair of works serving production. Mr. Ho Thanh Hai - Deputy Head of Planning Department of Bac Ha Tinh Irrigation Company Limited said: "The unit manages and operates 26 reservoirs, 2 dams, 10 saltwater prevention and freshwater retention sluices, 38 pumping stations and over 500 km of canals in 7 districts and towns in northern Ha Tinh. According to the plan, in the spring crop of 2024, the company will irrigate more than 21,000 hectares of spring rice. In addition to planning to repair and dredge works, the company mobilizes all of the company's human resources to coordinate with the benefiting localities to focus on timely repairing, dredging and dredging the canal system, proactively planning the spring crop of 2024".
In the spring crop of 2024, Cam Xuyen district plans to produce 9,560 hectares of rice (the largest area in the province). In addition, mobilize all resources to organize maintenance and repair of irrigation works in the area to ensure safe water supply for production in 2024; focus on accelerating the progress of solidifying intra-field canals in 2023, completing according to the assigned plan.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Duc - Deputy Head of Ha Tinh Irrigation Sub-Department said: "The whole province has 348 reservoirs, 86 dams, 494 pumping stations, 12 large sluices for flood drainage, 6,333 km of canals of all kinds and thousands of works on the canals. Currently, localities and related units are organizing inventory and balancing water resources at irrigation works; developing specific water supply plans for each work, for each region for implementation. At the same time, mobilizing forces, launching campaigns for internal irrigation, dredging canals to clear the flow, increasing irrigation efficiency for regions in the coming production season. For works under construction and repair, investors need to focus on directing and prioritizing resources to complete construction and put into use, promptly supplying water for production and daily life of the people.
After recent heavy rains, the reservoir system in Ha Tinh has been supplemented with water, ensuring irrigation for the 2024 spring crop. Up to now, 39 large reservoirs managed by provincial irrigation enterprises and the Irrigation Investment and Construction Management Board 4 (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) have reached over 70% of their design capacity. In particular, the water level of some large lakes such as: Ngan Truoi Lake reached over 68% of the design capacity; Ke Go Lake reached over 85% of the design capacity; Song Rac Lake reached over 97% of the design capacity; Thuong Tuy Lake reached over 82% of the design capacity; Song Tri Lake reached over 68% of the design capacity; Kim Son Lake reached 99% of the design capacity... Small reservoirs managed by local authorities have basic water levels reaching design capacity. |
