The family of Mrs. Pham Thi Thom, in Group 10, Quyet Thang Ward. Every year, when the Red Cross Society of the ward mobilizes blood donations, her family arranges their work to participate. Mrs. Thom shared: In 2020, I participated in donating blood for the first time. Since then, I have donated blood 10 times, and my children have also followed their mother's example, donating blood 13 times. With the thought that donating blood is a small contribution to society, the whole family volunteers to donate blood.
Better health after each blood donation, that is the feeling of teacher Nguyen Viet Chung, Son La Medical College after many times of voluntary blood donation. Up to now, teacher Chung has participated in 24 blood donations, his wife Ha Thi Thuan, working at the Provincial General Hospital, has also donated blood 7 times. Teacher Chung said: My wife and I are active propagandists, regularly mobilizing friends, colleagues, relatives to participate, each year on average mobilizing more than 150 cadres, civil servants, workers and students of the school to donate blood voluntarily. Sharing drops of red blood, not only contributes to the community, but also is an opportunity to check health.
From 2024 to present, the whole province has received over 6,000 units of safe blood. The Red Cross chapters at all levels in the province have focused on propaganda and mobilization, so that society and the community are clearly aware of the meaning and role of voluntary blood donation. Our province is also one of the few localities nationwide to organize the Spring Festival; Voluntary Blood Donation Day; Summer Blood Drops Campaign; Red Journey at the district and city levels.
Every year, the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation organizes an honoring ceremony for individuals, families and groups that have been outstanding in promoting, mobilizing and donating blood. In 2024, 51 typical examples from many localities, agencies, units and schools in the province will be honored.
Giving blood, receiving happiness from kindness, voluntary blood donation is not only an act of saving lives but also a symbol of love and responsibility to the community. From these noble acts, the spirit of kindness is increasingly spreading, contributing to building a healthy society, rich in love and full of human values.
