The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has just issued guidelines for admission to grade 10 of high school in the 2025-2026 school year. Accordingly, the exam schedule will still take place as previously announced, on June 7 and June 8. The specific schedule is as follows:
The formula for calculating the admission score (ADS) for grade 10 in Hanoi this year is as follows:
DXT = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + priority score (if any) + incentive score (if any).
In particular, the scores of the Literature, Math, and Foreign Language exams are graded on a 10-point scale; the odd scores of the total score are rounded to 2 decimal places. Only students who do not violate the Regulations to the extent of having their exam results canceled in the entrance exam and do not have any exam scores of 0 are considered for admission.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that on April 18, educational institutions will collect application forms for admission to grade 10 high school, collect and check direct admission application files of students; and complete the issuance of student codes and passwords to grade 9 students.
No later than April 18, the Department will also announce the enrollment plan for self-financed public high schools and private high schools on the Department's information portal.
On April 21, educational institutions in the area submitted student registration forms, records and lists of students registering for direct admission to the Department of Education and Training.
On April 26-29, students can check the list of candidates at schools (where they study grade 9); independent students and students from other provinces can check the list at the place where they submitted their exam registration forms. Students can check all personal information, registration wishes, priority points, incentive points, etc. If they find any errors, they can promptly ask for support and corrections.
No later than May 15, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the "competition" ratio of each school; no later than May 24, students will receive the Exam Notification Form.
At 9:00 a.m. on June 6, students go to the exam site to study the exam regulations. The non-specialized public grade 10 exam will take place on June 7-8; on June 9, specialized candidates will take the exam.
It is expected that from July 4 to 7, the Department of Education and Training will announce the exam scores of candidates and the benchmark scores of each school. From July 4 to 10, receive appeal requests from students. From July 7 to 9, return the Result Notification Form to students.
The Department of Education and Training noted that to ensure the opportunity to be admitted, students need to pay attention to how to arrange their preferences, in which the most important basis is their own learning ability. Preference 1 should be placed at a school with a benchmark score that matches their ability and interests, while preference 2 is a school with a benchmark score about 3 points lower than the first choice school. These two schools must be in the same enrollment area. For preference 3, students can choose a school in any enrollment area and a school with a benchmark score at least 3 points lower than the benchmark score of the second choice school to ensure safety.
This year, Hanoi has about 127,000 junior high school graduates, down nearly 6,000 compared to last year. The total quota for grade 10 admission in public schools is 79,000. Thus, the passing rate is over 62%, a slight increase compared to 60-61% in previous years.
