From April 11 to 15, Iran Film Week will take place in Hanoi. The program is organized by the Embassy of Iran in Vietnam in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aiming to bring the most outstanding films, representing Persian cinema in the years from 2023 to 2025.

The opening film is "In the Arm of the Tree" directed by Babak Khajehpasha, chosen by Iran to represent it in the 2025 Oscars, in the category of best international film.

The film revolves around a family on the brink of collapse, a couple who have been trying to divorce for 10 years without hurting their two sons. On the contrary, the two children are always close to each other, creating an innocent and pure family relationship.

The couple's decision to divorce led to the separation of the two children, while the eldest son sought to protect his younger brother from the brokenness of his parents. The perspective seen through the eyes of the two children turned the lives of the two adults in a completely different direction.

Variety commented that the film is gentle but leaves a big impact, especially in depicting the pure and beautiful feelings between two children, making the audience feel scared every time something bad could happen, afraid that the world that the two children worked so hard to build could collapse.

"The tragedy and its aftermath provide the backdrop for Khajehpasha to craft a humanistic appeal to hope, using the two children as vehicles to celebrate the value of family love, the willingness to do everything in one's power to ensure the safe return of one's children," the review on the site reads.

"The Great Arms" is the first feature film by Babak Khajehpasha (born in 1981). The film did not make it to the official Oscar nomination round but won several prestigious awards at the 41st Fajr International Film Festival (Iran), including best debut film, best director and best screenplay, and several other awards.

Following the film "The Great Tree's Arms" is a series of contemporary works on the themes of love, family affection, and personal issues, such as "Fragrant" by Hadi Moghadamdoost; "A Passenger from Ganora" by Seyed Ahmad Alamdar; " Beyro" by Morteza Ali Abbasmirzaee; and "Goodbye Shiraz girl" by Afshin Hashemi.

The series of films will be shown at 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. from April 11-15. Tickets will be distributed free of charge at the National Cinema Center (where the films are shown) until sold out.
