According to information from the Ministry of Health, as of March 31, 682,000 measles vaccine doses have been administered nationwide. Of which, the Northern region has administered more than 390,200 doses; the Central region has administered nearly 149,500 doses; the Central Highlands has administered more than 66,200 doses; and the Southern region has administered more than 76,000 doses.
Provinces and cities registered to end the campaign on March 31, however many provinces are compiling data and plan to continue vaccination in early April.
The measles vaccination campaign is being carried out in 54 provinces and cities at risk. The vaccination targets children aged 6-9 months, 1-5 years and 6-10 years.
The Ministry of Health stated that children from 6 months to under 9 months old will be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles vaccine; Children from 6-10 years old who have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated with measles-containing vaccine will each be vaccinated with 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine; Children from 1-5 years old who have not been fully vaccinated with measles-containing vaccine will be given a catch-up dose (using measles-containing vaccine in the Expanded Immunization Program according to the Expanded Immunization Plan in 2025).
The Ministry of Health promptly mobilized and received an additional 500,000 doses of measles vaccine on March 18. The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology received and distributed all of these vaccines to localities across the country. The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology also distributed vaccines in the expanded immunization program to vaccinate children aged 1-5 who have not received enough doses of measles-containing vaccine.
Implementing the Prime Minister's telegram and the direction of the Ministry of Health, localities have made efforts to carry out statistics, screening, "going to every alley, knocking on every door, screening every subject," diversifying communications so that people can bring their children to measles vaccination sites./.
