Together with the commander of the new soldier training battalion of the 244th Regiment, we inspected the training troops on the training ground. Under the hot sun of early April, we noticed that the young soldiers were very enthusiastic in practicing the AK submachine gun shooting lesson. Everyone's backs were soaked with sweat, their uniforms were covered in dust, but their optimism and determination were always present through their eyes and smiles.

During breaks, groups of young soldiers gathered to read newspapers, play music, tell stories, etc. Sitting near Private Nguyen Quang Huy, from Cam Pha city, a soldier of Squad 2, Platoon 4, Company 2, we learned that before joining the army, Huy graduated from the Hanoi University of Industry, Faculty of Accounting and Auditing and had a stable income. But because he loved the green uniform of the soldier, Huy wrote a volunteer application to join the army. Huy confided: “During the training process of shooting AK submachine guns, thanks to the attention and enthusiastic help of cadres at all levels, my teammates and I have improved in both courage and shooting techniques through each training session. The posture of the hands and feet is coordinated rhythmically, the gun and the person form a unified, solid block; correctly performing the essential movements of pressing the cheek, leaning the shoulder, holding the breath, and pulling the trigger.” Huy also firmly affirmed: "I will practice very well, cherish the results of this live-fire test, lesson 1, through each shooting position. Strive to achieve good results in the "3-explosion" test to end the training course."

At Company 1, the young soldiers of Squad 10, Platoon 3 are diligently practicing the explosive packaging content. Everyone shows a spirit of "learning new, reviewing old" very urgently, seriously, but carefully and meticulously in every movement. Quickly asking a few soldiers, everyone clearly understands the reason why when checking and assembling explosive devices, we must be very careful and meticulous, because if not done correctly, the mentality is not stable, the risk of insecurity for each individual will be very high.

Private Do Cong Hieu, a soldier of Squad 10, Platoon 3, Company 1, wiped the sweat from his forehead and shared: “For me, the content of wrapping and installing explosive devices is not difficult, but each movement must be performed precisely, otherwise it is very easy to be unsafe. Therefore, when practicing this content, I am very focused, if there is anything I do not understand or do not know, I immediately ask the officers. The squad and platoon officers also guide me and my brothers very enthusiastically and meticulously.”

We learned that in order for new soldiers to feel secure in their training and practice in the unit, the cadres at all levels of Regiment 244 have been constantly close to grasp and promptly resolve the ideological situation; the unit's Party Committee and commanders have always paid attention to ensuring a good material and spiritual life for officers and soldiers, organizing many recreational activities during breaks, breaks, and holidays, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere with the spirit of "The unit is home, officers and soldiers are all brothers".

According to Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Kien, Commander of Regiment 244, closely following the training motto of "basic, practical, solid", the Party Committee and Command of Regiment 244 have led and directed the Battalion to train new soldiers to organize training and practice from simple to complex, from easy to difficult, focusing on practice, training soldiers to be proficient from individual movements to squad movements. In addition to maintaining and improving the quality of training new soldiers, Regiment 244 always focuses on ensuring safety for people and weapons and equipment, while doing a good job of promoting the training ground, raising spirit, responsibility, and encouraging soldiers to practice enthusiastically. Up to now, after nearly two months of working in the unit, 100% of new soldiers are mentally secure, have a good understanding of their tasks, the vast majority have integrated into the military environment, are ready to receive and complete assigned tasks well.

After each day of intense training, the new soldiers gather around to read the newspaper.

It can be said that the increasingly difficult training exercises will be both a challenge and an opportunity for the new soldiers at Regiment 244 (Quang Ninh Provincial Military Command) to strive to practice. The eighteen-twenty-year-olds, with their enthusiasm and great ambitions, are demonstrating the spirit of "overcoming the sun and overcoming the rain" so that they can progress and mature day by day on the training ground and training grounds.
