A three-story restaurant in the center of Ho Chi Minh City caught fire with billowing black smoke, forcing many people to flee, creating a chaotic scene.
At around 10am this morning (December 18), residents living on Cao Thang Street, Ward 4, District 3 (HCMC) discovered flames rising high at a 3-storey 'French steakhouse' restaurant.
The restaurant was open at the time of the fire. Many customers and employees inside the restaurant panicked and ran outside, creating chaos.
Upon receiving the news, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of District 3 Police dispatched many specialized fire fighting vehicles and dozens of officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
Police divided into many groups to approach and control the fire.
About 30 minutes later, the fire was controlled and did not spread to neighboring houses.
Because the police had to block off a section of Cao Thang Street to serve the fire, traffic was locally congested.
The cause of the fire and damage are being investigated.
