Tomorrow (June 25), the Vietnam U19 team will gather again to prepare for the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship. During this gathering, head coach Hua Hien Vinh has given opportunities to a total of 35 players.
Unlike the most recent gathering to participate in an international friendly tournament in China in early June, this gathering of the Vietnam U19 team has a more solid force with the addition of several highly regarded players such as goalkeeper Cao Van Binh (Song Lam Nghe An), defender Nguyen Manh Hung (Binh Phuoc), Nguyen Luong Tuan Khai (Hue), midfielder Vi Dinh Thuong, Nguyen Huu Tuan (Hue), Thai Ba Dat (PVF), Nguyen Trong Tuan (Bac Ninh), striker Nguyen Anh Tuan (Phu Tho)...
These players missed the previous training session because they were busy playing for their home clubs in domestic tournaments.
Besides, a notable face also appeared on the list of players summoned this time, that is midfielder Ho Huu Hung, currently playing for CU Bohemians Praha club in the Czech Republic's national championship, and having participated in the Czech Republic's U15 and U16 teams.
According to the profile, Ho Huu Hung was born in 2006 and has dual citizenship of Vietnam and the Czech Republic. This player has spent 13 years training and playing football in the Central European country. Before joining CU Bohemians Praha, Ho Huu Hung played for Slovacko from 2011 to 2016 and SK Slavia Praha from 2016 to 2018. Ho Huu Hung's best positions are attacking midfielder and winger.
According to the plan, the Vietnam U19 team will train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. On July 16, the team will leave for Indonesia to participate in the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 Championship with the official list shortened to 23 players.
The 2024 AFF U19 Championship will take place in Surabaya, Indonesia from July 17 to July 29. Teams will compete in a round-robin format in each group to determine rankings. The top three teams in each group and the second-best team in each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The Vietnam U19 team is in Group B with the Laos, Myanmar and Australia U19 teams.
According to the schedule, the Vietnam U19 team will play their opening match against Myanmar U19 on July 18, then against Australia U19 on July 21 and Laos U19 on July 24.
