Mr. Ha Van Dung, a dedicated Geography teacher and head of the school’s STEM club, shared: “I used to research new teaching software, but had to put it aside because I didn’t have enough equipment. Most of the students in the school come from difficult circumstances, so they don’t have smartphones to practice on.” In the past, Mr. Dung always wanted to help students access digital knowledge and skills, but the lack of facilities was a major obstacle.

Things began to change when the project “Enhancing digital literacy for ethnic minority students” was implemented at Phu Cuong School. The school was equipped with a modern digital classroom with interactive screens, desktop computers and 20 tablets. These devices have breathed new life into teaching and learning at the school.

Mr. Dung could not hide his joy, sharing: “With modern digital equipment, teaching and learning are much more convenient. Now, we can innovate teaching methods, focus on students, and assign assignments in the form of projects for students to present and demonstrate their creativity.”

Not only are they provided with modern digital equipment, teachers like Mr. Dung are also trained to use advanced learning software such as Mozabook, which uses vivid 3D images to help students easily observe and access knowledge more intuitively. Teachers are also instructed on how to apply artificial intelligence and build lessons using an integrated approach. With this new knowledge and skills, teachers at Phu Cuong School are more confident in creating lively, engaging and suitable lessons for students.

T., a student of the STEM club, shared enthusiastically: “I feel very happy to participate in these interesting lessons. Using a tablet is very new to me, and I always look forward to introducing to everyone the videos I made myself.”

Thanks to the support from the project and the enthusiasm of Mr. Dung, students of Phu Cuong Primary and Secondary School have been able to access modern technology, gradually narrowing the gap with their friends in the city. Lessons have become more engaging, and students are more excited to participate in interactive activities, such as using the Quizzi application to answer questions. Mr. Dung and his students are looking forward to upcoming STEM projects, when technology will continue to open up new horizons, helping students develop skills and explore knowledge.

The story of Mr. Dung and his students in Phu Cuong is a testament to the power of digital education in changing the lives and futures of children in the highlands. With perseverance and dedication, teachers and students here are gradually overcoming difficulties, moving towards a brighter future thanks to the power of science and technology.

The project “Digital Literacy for Ethnic Minority Students” aims to support localities in creating a convenient, safe and equitable digital learning environment for vulnerable children, so that they can develop the necessary competencies for the 21st century. Funded by ChildFund Korea through ChildFund Vietnam, the project will be implemented in the period of 2023-2026.

The project "Enhancing digital capacity for ethnic minority students" contributes to supporting localities in implementing digital transformation plans in education, creating conditions for ethnic minority children to access advanced and modern education.
