Lieutenant General Botz László was a member of the first Hungarian group in the International Control and Supervision Commission implementing the Paris Agreement in 1973, contributing to the historic victory on April 30, 1975.
Mr. Váraljai Márton is a veteran diplomat who has worked for decades at the Hungarian Embassy in Vietnam, serving as Consul and Deputy Ambassador. Váraljai Márton is a loyal and close friend of Vietnam, with a deep understanding of the country and people of Vietnam.
At over 70 years old, the two men are still tirelessly cultivating the friendship between the two nations. As leaders of the Hungary - Vietnam Friendship Association, they have organized many cultural exchange activities, connecting businesses, scholars, and localities of the two countries, accompanying the Vietnamese community in Hungary, contributing to deepening understanding and mutual respect between the people of the two countries. Their contributions have helped spread the image of Vietnam widely in Hungary, while strengthening the foundation of sustainable cooperation between the two countries.

The awarding of the Friendship Medal is the Vietnamese State's recognition of the two men's tireless efforts, and at the same time demonstrates the Vietnamese people's deep gratitude to their devoted and loyal Hungarian friends.
