Stemming from the love and admiration for Vietnamese folk paintings, Hoang Nguyen Khue Anh and her friends together created the "brainchild" Viet Palette. Through this project, young people spread the value of Vietnamese folk art, preserving painting genres such as Lang Sinh paintings, Chuon Ngo mother-of-pearl inlay paintings, and also hope to bring these traditional values closer to the younger generation.
Arouse love for traditional culture with creative, familiar content
Originating from the passion and respect for folk art, Viet Palette - a project initiated by high school students in Hanoi. The project leader is Hoang Nguyen Khue Anh, a student of Chu Van An High School, who stands out not only for his creativity but also for his sense of social responsibility and love for national culture. Under Khue Anh's leadership, Viet Palette has become a bridge between tradition and today's young generation, helping young Vietnamese people get closer to unique folk paintings, including Lang Sinh paintings and Chuon Ngo mother-of-pearl inlay paintings.

Khue Anh and the young people at Viet Palette have been investing a lot of time and effort to build rich content on the fanpage, from the history to the production process of each type of folk painting. But what makes the difference is the way they bring this content to Gen Z. Instead of focusing on long, dry articles, Viet Palette combines information with images, short videos and real-life stories. The content is created in the form of Infographics, short videos, and eye-catching photo albums, helping the younger generation easily follow and understand more about each stage of making paintings, from wood carving, color mixing to how to create unique handmade brushes from wild pineapple pith.
Articles about Sinh Village paintings, for example, not only introduce the spiritual significance of the paintings but also incorporate touching stories about the craft village. This helps young people clearly see the connection between folk paintings and Vietnamese life, thereby understanding and appreciating traditional cultural values.
Experience Traditional Art - A Bridge Between Past and Present
Understanding that Gen Z loves to experience, Viet Palette has organized many practical events such as “Cham Sac” - a unique experience program where participants can directly try their hand at each stage of making folk paintings. From painting, wood carving to pottery making, every detail is carefully guided by artisans from the craft village, providing a vivid perspective on the process and value of folk culture.

This experience is recorded and shared on Viet Palette's fanpage as a travel diary, with vivid videos and articles, thereby conveying emotions and joy when discovering traditional art. With each post, Viet Palette not only provides knowledge but also opens up opportunities for young people to access and preserve cultural identity.
One of the special features of the experiential activities at Viet Palette is the humanity and social significance. All events such as “Touch Color” not only aim to spread cultural values but also raise funds to support charitable organizations. The proceeds from the events will be donated to charitable funds, typically the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network. Khue Anh and the members of the project hope that each participant will not only receive valuable experiences of folk art but also contribute to helping the community. This is how young people at Viet Palette convey the spirit of sharing, turning cultural passion into practical action, bringing positive impacts to society.
It can be said that in this journey, Khue Anh and her friends at Viet Palette not only want to preserve but also want to help Vietnamese folk art find a solid foothold in the modern world. They are gradually proving that Gen Z is not only a cultural recipient but also a person who is willing to preserve and develop the quintessential values of the Vietnamese people.
Hoang Nguyen Khue Anh is not only the founder and leader of the Viet Palette project but also a shining example of compassion and dedication to society. Since her secondary school years, Khue Anh has participated in many charitable activities, such as donating to build schools for children in mountainous areas and donating hair to charities in the UK and Vietnam. In 2024, Khue Anh and her friends decided to donate all proceeds from the "Touching Color" event to the Vietnam Breast Cancer Network. In the future, Khue Anh will study the IB program at the South African International School, but she still wants to continue developing the Viet Palette project to spread Vietnamese folk art closer to young people around the world. With her passion and dedication, Khue Anh has inspired young people to join and contribute to the journey of preserving Vietnamese cultural identity. |
