A container truck caught fire so fiercely that police had to temporarily close a lane on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to handle the situation, causing a traffic jam of more than 3 km on the morning of October 6.
At around 8am, a male driver in his 40s was driving a 40-foot cargo trailer on the highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Dong Nai. When approaching the Long Phuoc toll station, the driver noticed smoke and fire coming from the roof of the cabin, so he opened the door and ran away. A few minutes later, the fire broke out and engulfed the trailer.

Firefighters were present to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to the cargo container. Traffic police simultaneously diverted traffic and closed the entrance to the expressway from An Phu roundabout to investigate the scene, preventing vehicles from piling up and causing serious congestion. The fire did not cause any casualties, but the entire tractor was burned down and the cargo container was not affected.
The incident caused traffic congestion in the area for more than three kilometers. As of 9:00 a.m., authorities were handling the incident, regulating and diverting traffic. According to the police, the cause of the fire may have been an electrical short circuit in the car cabin.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway is 55 km long, passing through Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. Since its opening in 2015, the expressway has had dozens of vehicle fires and accidents. The route is being planned to double the width of the section through Ho Chi Minh City, from 4 to 8 lanes, to meet the increasing demand.
