On the morning of January 7, the leader of the Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee said that he had directed sectors and localities to complete the final procedures to start construction of the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway in September 2025.
Mr. Ha Sy Son, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Dak Nong province, informed that the North-South Expressway project in the West, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh section, is being implemented with 27.8km passing through Dak Nong.
Up to now, the province has clearly assigned responsibilities to the agencies, units in charge, coordination, and implementation timeline.
"Currently, the investor and the consulting unit have basically completed the feasibility study report, and it is expected that the report will be completed by January 10.
Next, the investor and the consulting unit will submit the plan to the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province for the opinion of the Department of Expressways (Ministry of Transport). After receiving the opinion of this department, the consulting unit will continue to complete the dossier and submit it to the State Appraisal Council.
In February 2025, the locality will submit and appraise the project's feasibility study report.
When the above procedures are completed, the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway project is expected to start construction in September 2025," Mr. Son informed.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi - Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee - said that Binh Phuoc has started construction of the expressway connecting Chon Thanh to Binh Duong to connect to Ho Chi Minh City. When the Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh expressway is completed, it will create a smooth traffic route, opening a huge turning point for the development of Dak Nong in the future.
"This highway has a speed of 120km/h, shortening the travel time from Gia Nghia to Ho Chi Minh City to only 2 hours. Because of this convenience in the future, many businesses and corporations have come to Dak Nong to invest with a registered investment capital of about 8 billion USD," said Mr. Muoi.
The North-South Expressway project, the western section of Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc), is 128.8km long with 4 lanes, expected speed of 100 - 120km/h, to be implemented from 2024 and basically completed in 2026, put into operation in 2027.
The project is divided into 5 sub-projects, including a separate part for site clearance. Compensation, resettlement support, and construction of service roads and overpasses across Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc provinces will be implemented in the form of public investment.
The preliminary total investment of the project is more than 25,500 billion VND, of which the central budget is more than 10,500 billion VND, the local budget of Binh Phuoc is more than 1,200 billion VND, Dak Nong province is 1,000 billion VND. The remaining amount of more than 12,700 billion VND is from investors participating in the project.
