According to the leader of the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch (Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department), since December 2023, the number of imported cars to this port has continued to decrease sharply. Among them, there are only a few popular car models, absolutely no luxury cars. This is a rare thing at a port specializing in receiving imported cars like Hiep Phuoc port at the end of the lunar year.
The number of imported cars to Hiep Phuoc port has decreased sharply since mid-2023 until now.
At the area where imported cars are inspected, there is only one car standing alone waiting to complete the procedures. Previously, this area always had hundreds of cars. Especially, in the last month of the lunar year, the area has never been empty for a day.
At the imported car inspection area, there was only one car standing alone waiting to complete the procedures.
It is worth mentioning that at the car storage yard waiting for customs procedures, there have been hundreds of cars "unsold" for a year now, but due to financial difficulties, businesses have not yet gone to the port to complete procedures to receive the cars.
Many cars were imported nearly a year ago, but businesses have not completed the procedures due to financial difficulties.
According to the Hiep Phuoc Port Customs Branch, the number of imported vehicles to the port increased steadily in the first half of 2023, but from the second half of 2023 to now (from June 2023), the number of vehicles to the port has decreased "unprecedentedly", causing the import turnover through the port to decrease by nearly 350 million USD. This greatly affects the unit's budget revenue.
The number of imported cars at Hiep Phuoc port is forecast to continue to decrease due to economic difficulties.
The Customs Branch of Hiep Phuoc Port was assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department a target of collecting VND26,200 billion for the state budget this year.
Tax collection from imported cars at Hiep Phuoc port accounted for 21% of the revenue of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department in the first half of 2023; an average of nearly 2,654 billion VND/month. However, in the next 5 months (from July to November 2023), the average monthly revenue only reached more than 1,543 billion VND (equal to about 58% compared to the first 6 months of the year). In 2023, the total number of imported cars (with procedures completed) through Hiep Phuoc port was 58,172 units, and nearly 1,500 imported motorbikes. This unit brought in over 23,908 billion VND in state budget revenue.
In 2024, the number of imported cars to this port is forecast to continue to decrease. Therefore, the unit's state budget revenue is forecast to continue to be difficult.
