On September 28, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning about high tides in the downstream area of the Saigon - Dong Nai River.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in the past 24 hours, the water levels at stations in the downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai River have risen rapidly but remain low. At 7:00 a.m. on September 28, the highest water level at Phu An station was 1.23m and at Nha Be station was 1.22m, both below alert level 1. In the next 5 days, the water levels at stations in the downstream of the Saigon - Dong Nai River will continue to rise rapidly.
By October 1, the highest daily tide may rise to approximately 0.05m or higher than alert level 1. This peak tide is likely to occur on October 3 to 5 (ie September 1 to 3 of the lunar calendar) at the following levels: Phu An station and Nha Be station will be approximately 1.5-1.55m, approximately 0.05m or higher than alert level 2, occurring from about 4am to 7am and from 4pm to 7pm. The level of natural disaster risk in the downstream area of the Saigon - Dong Nai River is at level 1.

On the same day, Mr. Vo Tan Nhan, Director of Tri An Hydropower Company (Vietnam Electricity Group) also said that at 7:00 a.m. on September 28, the upstream water level of Tri An Lake was 60.82 m; the downstream water level of the plant was 6 m; the amount of water discharged through the spillway was 640 m3/s. Based on the fact that the amount of water flowing into Tri An Lake is on a downward trend and to reduce the possible impact on the downstream, Tri An Hydropower Company will reduce the amount of water discharged to regulate the lake as follows: at 2:00 p.m. on September 28, the discharge flow through the spillway is 320 to 850 m3/s; the total water flow discharged downstream is from 1,120 to 1,170 m3/s.
Depending on the weather and the water level downstream of the Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company may change the water flow through the spillway. The company will notify the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue at all levels and local authorities to direct, coordinate and notify people downstream of the reservoir to proactively take preventive measures to avoid possible damage.
