Electricity industry advises customers to be vigilant against fraud tricks
According to information from Long An Electricity Company , the situation of impersonating electricity industry employees to commit fraud is becoming more complicated, causing confusion and significant damage to the people.
Fraudsters are increasingly sophisticated, using various tricks to approach and appropriate assets of electricity customers. They mostly target the elderly, children, and customers in remote areas with little access to media and social networks.
Many customers have suffered property damage, in some cases up to tens or hundreds of millions of dong. Authorities are actively investigating and handling fraudsters and increasing propaganda and warnings to the public.
To protect yourself and your family from related fake scams, the Electricity industry recommends that customers need to be vigilant, absolutely do not provide personal information, bank accounts, OTP codes to anyone via phone, text messages or strange links,... because electricity staff never ask customers to provide this information through unofficial channels.
Customers should also be wary of calls and messages from strange phone numbers claiming to be Electricity employees. When receiving notifications about electricity debt, winning prizes, promotions, etc., people should check the information through the official channels of the electricity industry such as the customer care hotline 19001006 or 19009000, the customer care website www.evnspc.vnn or the EVNSPC CSKH application.
In addition, customers absolutely do not pay electricity bills via
unofficial channels/applications, you should only pay electricity bills through official channels such as Mobile Banking applications, e-wallets (Zalo Pay, Momo), electricity collection points or collection partners (banks, convenience stores,...).
When someone claiming to be an Electricity employee comes to your home to check or repair electricity, ask them to show their documents and if in doubt, call the Customer Care Center 19001006 - 19009000 to verify the information; do not install applications of unknown origin claiming to be applications of the Electricity industry. At the same time, customers should regularly update information about scams on mass media and the official website of the Electricity industry.
In addition, when detecting signs of suspected fraud, people should immediately notify the local police or Electricity Department for timely support and handling./.
