On September 23, at Terminal T1, Vinh International Airport, rainwater leaked from the ceiling onto the waiting passenger seats. Afterwards, airport staff used two red plastic buckets to catch the rainwater and placed a sign warning that the floor was wet.
When the image of a bucket to catch rainwater appeared on the T1 terminal at Vinh airport, many people were surprised.
On the evening of September 23, Mr. Nghiem Manh Tuan, Director of Vinh International Airport, informed that the terminal has been leaking due to heavy rains in recent days. Currently, the leaders are looking for the earliest solution.
According to the reporter's records, today in Vinh City, it rained heavily for many hours, causing many roads to be deeply flooded.
Vinh International Airport has a designed capacity of 3 million passengers/year, and in 2022 served up to 2.6 million passengers.
According to the 2021 - 2030 planning period, Vinh airport will invest in a second runway and build passenger terminal T2, with the goal of increasing capacity to 8 million passengers/year.
