TPO - Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant with an investment of nearly 6,000 billion VND, covering an area of ​​more than 33 hectares, is one of the largest wastewater treatment plants in Southeast Asia located in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant, located in Thanh My Loi ward, Thu Duc city, is currently the largest project in the country and Southeast Asia with a wastewater treatment capacity of 480,000m3/day and night.

The project includes items such as a filter tank system, sludge treatment tank, pumping station, drainage, embankment, operator house... constructed on an area of ​​about 38 hectares.

With a capacity to treat 480,000 m3 of wastewater per day and night, Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe plant is the largest in the country and Southeast Asia, applying the most modern biological treatment technology today.

Mr. Bui Thanh Tan, Director of the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project, said that the XL-02 package is the largest and most important item of the entire Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project Phase 2.

The wastewater treatment plant consists of an administrative building, a lift pump station, a pre-treatment area, a biological treatment area, a settling tank, a sludge treatment area, and an odor treatment area.

Important items such as the filter tank and wastewater treatment system have been roughly completed. The sludge treatment tank and pumping station are being accelerated.

The SBR wastewater treatment tank area is rectangular in shape, with the walls built of concrete like a wall.

According to the investor, the factory applies advanced MBBR (moving bed biofilm reactor) biological treatment technology, using mobile media for microorganisms to adhere and develop to remove organic substances in wastewater. Wastewater will be pumped to the biological treatment tank, then through the cleaning and settling tank before being disinfected with ultraviolet rays (UV).

Workers are busy working on a large construction site in harsh weather, with unpredictable sunshine and rain.

When the project comes into operation, all wastewater from residents along both sides of the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal, stretching through Districts 1, 3, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Tan Binh and the old District 2, will be collected to the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant through a sewer system about 17 km long.

This factory is one of the items in the Ho Chi Minh City Environmental Sanitation Project - Phase 2. Previously valued at 307 million USD, after the international competitive bidding process, it was reduced by 72 million USD, the value down to about 235.1 million USD (equivalent to nearly 6,000 billion VND).

Currently, the total capacity of treating urban domestic wastewater in Ho Chi Minh City is 644,000 m3/day, only reaching about 40% of the daily wastewater volume. When the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe wastewater treatment plant is completed and put into operation, Ho Chi Minh City will increase its capacity of treating urban domestic wastewater to more than 1.1 million m3/day and night.
