On the afternoon of September 12, the first two main spans of Nhon Trach Bridge were officially closed, connecting piers P19 - P20 and P20 - P21 together. This is the largest bridge of component project 1A of the investment project to build the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, phase 1, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3.
Nhon Trach Bridge (package CW1) is 2,600m long and was constructed by Kumho E&C (Korea) with a total investment of VND 1,618 billion. The bridge started construction in September 2022. To date, the progress has reached more than 83% of the plan, shortening the time by about 4 months.
Today, the segments will be poured with concrete and connected together. (In the photo, the segment connecting the two main spans is being closed after a year of construction).
Mr. Koo Ja Kyoung, CW1 Project Director, Kumho E&C contractor, said that after closing the first two main spans, the contractor will speed up the two main pillars B18 and B22 in 2024. It is expected that the remaining spans will be closed in early 2025.
Mr. Koo Ja Kyuong affirmed that the contractor will ensure to shorten the construction progress and open Nhon Trach bridge to traffic on April 30, 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister.
All stages are carried out carefully, under close supervision. (In the photo, workers of contractor Dat Phuong pour concrete to join the two spans of the bridge).
Other items are also being urgently constructed. In particular, the construction of the roadbed (Dong Nai side) has reached 19,000/25,000 m3, expected to be completed in September 2024; the substructure of pillars A1, B6, B8, B17, B23, B24, B25, B26 will also be completed by the end of October 2024.
Mr. Le Dinh Hoang Chuong, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 1A (My Thuan Project Management Board - investor) said that the overall progress of the entire component project 1A reached 67%.
After closing the remaining spans in early 2025, the units will complete the bridge deck, install railings, lighting... to put it into operation.
Regarding the access road (package CW2), the progress has been nearly 45%. Ho Chi Minh City has basically completed the handover of the site, while Dong Nai has completed 98%. Mr. Chuong said that the construction units have relocated the technical infrastructure at 4/7 locations, and the rest will be completed in September 2024.
"The current common difficulty is the lack of sand for foundation filling. Contractors have proactively sought domestic and foreign sources of sand to buy. The purchase price may be higher than the contract price, and additional funding is provided from the contractor's own funds to ensure project progress. Up to now, 65% of the sand for foundation filling has arrived at the construction site," said Mr. Chuong.
Component Project 1A of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 has a total length of 8.22km, of which 6.3km passes through Dong Nai province and 1.92km passes through Ho Chi Minh City. The project has a total investment capital of about 6,900 billion VND.
When completed and put into use, Nhon Trach Bridge promises to become a bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the Eastern and Southwestern provinces, helping people shorten travel time from Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province, to Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
