Mr. Trinh Xuan Vu confided: “Responding to the movement of the elderly participating in building the grassroots political system, period 2019 - 2024, with the responsibility as the leader, I always uphold the sense of responsibility, perform well the assigned tasks. Regularly, together with the Standing Committee of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, do a good job of propagating the position, role, and importance of the grassroots political system, campaigns, patriotic emulation movements, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas; propagating the contents of building cultural life, developing the economy, society, national defense, and security in the locality to cadres, members, members of the Fatherland Front, the Elderly Association and the masses”.
At work, Mr. Vu also always listens to and collects opinions and contributions from cadres, party members, association members, and people to promptly report to the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of the commune on Party and government building; implementing the democratic regulations at the grassroots level. From there, he contributes to resolving small conflicts in rural areas, doing well the election of National Assembly deputies, People's Councils at all levels, and village chiefs; giving many enthusiastic opinions at meetings with voters, direct dialogue with leaders of Party committees, authorities, and people... From there, he continuously improves the quality of activities of the Fatherland Front and local organizations.
According to Mr. Vu, the results of the movement of the elderly participating in building the political system at the grassroots level are vivid proof of the spirit of "Old age - Bright example", affirming that the elderly are a social force, a valuable endogenous resource of the nation... Since then, the elderly members of the whole commune have enthusiastically responded and taken on the positions of secretary, deputy secretary of the Party cell; head, deputy head of the village, residential area, hamlet, village, residential group; head of the Front work committee, head of the mass organizations; participating in the people's security team, grassroots mediation team.
Over the past 5 years, the Association of the Elderly has coordinated to examine and provide health consultations for more than 3,000 members, including providing free medicine and treating eye diseases for 9,000 elderly members and 25 members receiving cataract surgery, totaling 50 million VND. Organizing 25 communication sessions on non-communicable diseases in the elderly for 2,600 members of 5 branches, Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs (LTHTGN) in villages and residential areas, with a total amount of 50 million VND.
Every year, on the occasion of Lunar New Year and the Month of Action for the Elderly in Vietnam, he actively coordinates with the Party Committee and the government to organize birthday wishes and celebrations for the elderly in a timely, thoughtful, economical and civilized manner. He visits, encourages, and gives hundreds of gifts to poor elderly people, elderly people in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people without support, families with preferential policies, sick and ill elderly people, etc.
In addition, Mr. Vu and the Executive Board of the Association established 16 poetry clubs, health care gymnastics, folk dance, and men's and women's volleyball clubs, attracting a large number of enthusiastic members to participate, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the elderly. 100% of villages and residential areas in the commune have launched LTHTGN clubs. Currently, the clubs are well organizing activities to increase income; take care of health; help each other, support the community; protect rights and interests; raise awareness and knowledge; take care of spiritual life; mobilize resources, etc.

Thanks to the enthusiasm, responsibility and positive contributions of Mr. Trinh Xuan Vu, in the past time, the Elderly Association of Toan Thang commune has been a typical and excellent unit leading the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" of Tien Lang district for 15 years. Mr. Vu was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, and for many consecutive years he has been commended and rewarded by the Provincial People's Committee, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and the Elderly Association at all levels.
