Garbage such as plastic bags, plastic cups, foam boxes, and crushed fruit at the lucky market held once a year on the 6th day of Tet in Thanh Hoa province.
Chuong Market, Mung Sau Market, love market or also known as lucky market, is held once a year on the 6th day of Lunar New Year on the Hoang River dike (Dong Hoang commune, Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa province) attracting a large number of people to participate.
There is a custom in the market where boys and girls tease each other and express their feelings for each other by throwing apples and ripe red tomatoes at each other to express their feelings to the other person.
However, this custom has been distorted when many teenagers intentionally throw apples and tomatoes at others as a joke.
They even invite each other to throw things at people. The dirtier and more painful it is, the more... fun it is.
On the morning of February 3, the market had only been open for half a day when all kinds of garbage such as plastic bags and crushed fruit were strewn all over the ground.
Many tomato and apple sellers weigh each plastic bag of about 1kg. There are groups of teenagers who buy dozens of bags at a time, throw them away in a few minutes and conveniently litter.
Ms. Le Thi Binh, a resident of Dong Hoang commune, Dong Son district, was upset: "The market is fun but seeing the garbage dump below makes me want to visit. Going to the market to pray for luck or love is like standing on a garbage dump. There are many people but I can't find any trash cans."
