The Elderly Association proactively develops plans to organize activities suitable to the actual situation of the locality to effectively participate in the movement "All people protect national security". Coordinate with the police force to integrate propaganda sessions in many diverse and rich forms such as organizing conferences, training for cadres and members of the Elderly Association on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, reconciliation, and implementation of grassroots democracy regulations. Coordinate closely with the Border Guard to do a good job of self-management of border lines and border markers, protecting national independence and sovereignty.
Promoting their role and prestige, many elderly people have participated in educating and reminding their children and grandchildren to implement the contents of the movement; strictly comply with the laws of the State; raise awareness, detect and denounce all kinds of crimes and social evils. Through that, the elderly have provided the police force with 124 sources of information to denounce crimes, contributing to maintaining political security and social order and safety in the province.
The Association of the Elderly in communes, wards and towns has proactively focused on propaganda, encouragement and creating conditions for members to actively participate in building a clean and strong political system. The whole province has 5,115 elderly people participating in the work of the Party, government, Fatherland Front, people's inspectors, security, and mediators at the grassroots level, always promoting a high sense of responsibility and completing all tasks well...
In addition, the "tall and shady" class is also the core in the movement and campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", "Changing the thinking and working style of ethnic minorities to gradually rise up and escape poverty sustainably"... Responding to the national target program on building new rural areas (NTM), civilized urban areas and protecting the environment, many members of the Elderly Association have voluntarily demolished fences and architectural structures, mobilized their children, families and clans to donate 49,100m2 of land, contributed over 6,000 working days, and supported over 1 billion VND to join hands with local authorities to build advanced NTM and model NTM...
Joining hands to build a cultural life, model families, and the movement of "Exemplary grandparents and parents, filial children and kind grandchildren", the whole province has 95% of the elderly association members' families achieving the title of "Cultural Family".
In the field of economic development, there are more and more good models and creative ways of doing things, actively contributing to poverty reduction, legitimate enrichment, and creating jobs for thousands of local workers. Currently, there are 47,530 elderly people directly working, producing, doing business, and providing services; of which 10,520 elderly people have achieved the title of good economic performers at all levels.
Ms. Ro Cham H'Yeo, Head of the Executive Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Elderly Association, said: "In recent times, the construction and replication of advanced models and typical examples has been a key task closely directed by the Association at all levels. Many models have been built and operated effectively such as "Reconciliation Teams", "Self-managed Security Teams", "Security and Order Boards", "Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs"... attracting a large number of elderly people and people to actively respond."
It can be said that the movement "All people protect national security" has been creating a strong spread in the province, in which the elderly have promoted their role and responsibility well, setting a good example, contributing significantly to keeping the homeland peaceful, happy, and increasingly developing./.
