In recent years, the province’s livestock industry has been facing serious disease outbreaks. African swine fever has broken out in many localities, causing great economic losses and directly affecting the lives of livestock farmers.

In addition, avian influenza and foot-and-mouth disease in cattle and buffaloes also frequently appear, reducing production, increasing disease prevention costs, causing low livestock prices and unstable incomes for farmers. Many farming households have had to reduce their scale or even quit their jobs because they could not bear the losses.
Faced with that reality, strict control of livestock and poultry transportation is an important solution to help prevent the risk of disease spread, protect livestock and help people feel secure in production.
In order to prevent the risk of disease intrusion and outbreak, since the beginning of 2025, Dak Nong province has been strengthening measures to control the transportation of livestock and poultry.

At the Quarantine Station in Cay Chanh, Dak Ru Commune, Dak R'lap District and Cau 14, Tam Thang Commune, Cu Jut District, the authorities have arranged for staff to be on duty 24/7, increasing inspections to ensure that all vehicles transporting livestock and poultry through the station are inspected.
At quarantine stations, veterinary officers will count the quantity, check lead seals and assist vehicle owners in spraying disinfectant chemicals.
Mr. Duong Thanh Vu, driver of CP Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company, said, I often transport pigs for meat and breeding pigs in and out of Dak Nong province. Before passing through the station, I always stop to check. During the process of transporting pigs, I always carry full documents proving the origin, disease safety certificates, and African swine fever.

At present, livestock farms in the province are continuing to import breeding animals to repopulate their herds. To limit disease and ensure the safety of livestock, in addition to strengthening the control of pig transportation in and out of the province, the Domestic Animal and Plant Quarantine Station also arranges quarantine officers at livestock farms.
Dak Nong currently has a herd of 458,685 pigs, 28,500 cows, 4,350 buffaloes, 3.177 million poultry, and 33,600 goats.
According to data from the Inland Animal and Plant Quarantine Station, since the beginning of the year, Dak Nong has quarantined 43,615 breeding pigs and 102,000 pigs for meat; and quarantined 82,500 breeding pigs and 5,250 pigs for meat.
Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Head of the Domestic Animal and Plant Quarantine Station, Dak Nong Province's Department of Agricultural Development, said that the station has assigned people to work 24/7, checking all means of transporting livestock and poultry in and out of the province. All for the safety of livestock farmers and to prevent the spread of disease.
"The station staff have strictly implemented quarantine work for vehicles transporting animals and animal products in and out of the province; absolutely do not allow the transportation of animals and animal products of unknown origin, without quarantine certificates, and without test results for African swine fever according to regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment," said Mr. Phuoc.
Thanks to strict control of the transportation of livestock and poultry in and out of the province, it has contributed to disease control, helping farmers in Dak Nong province feel secure in restocking and maintaining production.
