A patient suspected of having monkeypox, B. (36 years old, residing in Dinh Binh commune, Ca Mau city), had symptoms of burning pain in the penis and the appearance of pustules, so he went to a private clinic for examination and treatment.
The patient was given medication for 3 days by the doctor but his condition did not improve. On February 22, the patient developed many pustules and blisters of various sizes and in large numbers on the face, neck, arms, hands, feet, legs, scrotum, etc.
The patient then went to Ca Mau General Hospital for examination and was advised to go to Can Tho Dermatology Hospital for examination. Here, the patient was diagnosed with suspected monkeypox.
The Department of Health of Ca Mau province has directed the provincial Center for Disease Control to coordinate with relevant units to conduct an epidemiological investigation and discovered that patient B's family has 5 members, the parents have just returned from abroad for about 3 days and the patient's 2 younger siblings are currently living in Nguyen Phich commune, U Minh district, Ca Mau province.
Medical staff have traced and monitored close contacts, disinfected and treated the epidemic environment in the patient's residential area in Dinh Binh commune and his family in Nguyen Phich commune.
At the same time, instruct on how to handle items such as clothes, blankets, pillowcases of the patient and encourage the patient and relatives to rest assured and wait for the test results, after which there will be further handling.
