(CLO) On the afternoon of October 27, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the FOJO Institute's Vietnam Alumni Liaison Committee to organize a meeting, award the Medal for the Cause of Information and Communications to Swedish journalists and express gratitude to the staff participating in the Project "Advanced Training of Vietnamese Journalism" in the period 1997 - 2014.
Speaking at the meeting between the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications with former lecturers and students of the Vietnam Journalists Capacity Building Training Project, the representative of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and generations of Vietnamese journalists - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of MIC expressed his gratitude to the people and the Government of Sweden, specifically the Vietnam Journalists Advanced Training Project by the Swedish Institute for Advanced Journalism (FOJO) for helping to train and improve the qualifications of thousands of Vietnamese reporters and journalists over the years.
It is known that the project started in 1997 with funding from the Swedish Government. In the period 2004 - 2013 alone, FOJO trained about 7,000 journalists from Vietnam, accounting for nearly half of the team at that time. To date, many graduates from the training course are holding important positions, such as Mr. Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Mr. Le Ngoc Quang - General Director of Vietnam Television...
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized: "What remains today is a professional, humane, modern and humane Vietnamese press."

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Sweden, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam awarded the Medal for the Cause of Information and Communications to former lecturers of FOJO Institute.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Quy Doan, former Deputy Minister of Information and Communications - who directly directed the project, expressed his emotion to attend the meeting with all the staff and lecturers of the Project. " This is an honor and helps me remember the arduous but extremely glorious journey of Vietnamese journalism when implementing this important Project".
The former Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to all those who have devoted their wholeheartedly to the Project to bring the Project to fruition. “This is the largest modern journalism skills training project for the Vietnamese press. Over the past 17 years, 7,000 journalists from press agencies have been trained in journalism through the Project, helping to change the quality of Vietnamese press, especially modern journalism skills,” Mr. Doan shared.
Expressing her pleasure at attending the meeting, Ms. Marie-Louise Thaning, Counselor, Head of Trade, Economic and Political Promotion Department - Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam, expressed special thanks to 11 Swedish media experts as their contributions to the Vietnamese media sector have been recognized and have had a significant impact.
"We expect the connection to enrich the friendship between the two sides and strengthen the relationship between the two countries in the future," Ms. Marie-Louise Thaning emphasized.
The Vietnam Journalism Retraining Project was implemented during the period 1997-2013. The program provided training for about 5,000 Vietnamese reporters during the period 1998-2011. To date, nearly 10,000 journalists have been trained in modern journalism methods. The Project's activities are implemented in all types of journalism, all types of journalists, and all areas of professional training. The Project has accelerated the development of Vietnamese journalism; the role of journalism has been enhanced in social life. In particular, the Project has helped Vietnam have a team of competent journalists and highly qualified lecturers. |
