The Ministry of Transport has just sent an official dispatch to the National Assembly Delegation of Dong Nai province regarding voters' recommendations related to adding residential roads and parallel roads to the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway through Phuoc An commune, Nhon Trach district.
Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway section through Dong Nai has completed many construction packages.
According to the Ministry of Transport, in 2019, based on local opinions, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) proposed to add a number of service roads in Phuoc An commune to package A6 of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project using loans from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
However, the ADB sponsor did not agree to add this item to the project because additional site clearance was needed but the remaining time of the loan agreement did not guarantee the completion of these items.
Currently, to ensure the travel needs of people on both sides of the highway, VEC has proposed to add a feeder road to the project using VEC's own funds. Based on VEC's proposal, the Ministry of Transport has submitted a document to the Prime Minister for approval to adjust the project's investment policy.
After the investment policy is adjusted, including the use of VEC's self-arranged capital for additional items approved by competent authorities, the Ministry of Transport will direct VEC to promptly complete related procedures, coordinate with localities to review and implement items to ensure people's travel in the area.
The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is nearly 58km long, passing through Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, with a total investment of 31,300 billion VND. Construction started in 2014 and was expected to be completed in 5 years, but due to difficulties in investment policies and capital sources, the project had to be stopped and only resumed in 2023.
The Eastern expressway branch connecting the Southeast and Southwest regions passing through Dong Nai province has three packages including package A5, package A6 and package A7, with a length of 27km.
Up to now, the contractor has basically completed packages A5 and A7, while package A6 is still under construction, with progress reaching over 80%. The Southern Expressway Project Management Board said that the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway through Dong Nai is expected to open to technical traffic by the end of 2024, along with the section through Long An. The entire route is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2025.
