On the afternoon of June 14, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received President of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire Adama Bictogo, who is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Welcoming the President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly and his delegation to Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong stated that the visit was the highest-level delegation and also the first President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly to visit Vietnam, contributing significantly to strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two National Assemblies as well as the two countries.
The President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly expressed his pleasure at meeting President Vo Van Thuong again, and said that Vietnam and Ivory Coast have had important economic development cooperation results; highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements, especially in hunger eradication and poverty reduction.
National Assembly Chairman Adama Bictogo shared that Vietnam and Ivory Coast have many similarities in economic development. In the context of difficulties and challenges from global issues, the two countries need to further strengthen coordination in the coming time, creating a safe, favorable and trustworthy business environment. Ivory Coast wishes to welcome Vietnamese businesses to explore cooperation and investment opportunities, especially in developing processing and export technology.
Noting that he always closely follows the developments of Ivory Coast, President Vo Van Thuong congratulated the important achievements that the people of this country have made in many different fields.
President Vo Van Thuong believes that Ivory Coast will continue to maintain political stability, develop its socio-economy, effectively implement “Vision 2030,” gradually build an increasingly prosperous country, and enhance its role and position at regional and international forums.

The President said that the positive developments in bilateral relations in recent times, especially in the fields of politics, diplomacy and economics, have had positive significance. However, the two countries still have much room to continue developing their cooperative relationship.

The President suggested that the two sides increase delegation exchanges, high-level contacts and contacts between ministries, sectors and localities; continue to closely coordinate and actively support each other at multilateral forums; and prioritize promoting economic cooperation commensurate with the good political relations and great potential of the two sides.
Pleased to see that the relationship between the Vietnamese and Ivorian National Assemblies is developing well, creating a favorable foundation for economic cooperation, the President welcomed the results of the talks between National Assembly Chairman Adama Bictogo and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the meetings with Vietnamese leaders.
The two sides believe that the signing and implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two National Assemblies will contribute to deepening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
President Vo Van Thuong and President of the Ivory Coast National Assembly Adama Bictogo agreed on the need to further promote trade cooperation in a sustainable and balanced manner, creating conditions for expanding exports to each other’s markets as well as to ASEAN and African markets. The two leaders affirmed the need to prioritize promoting and expanding cooperation in the fields of agriculture and investment./.
