Enhanced security
The coastal road project passing through Binh Dinh province is more than 115 km long, with a total investment of more than 9,000 billion VND, with 8 component projects of 99 km long, the remaining 16 km of National Highway 1D is utilized. The project started construction in November 2019 and was inaugurated on February 4, 2023, with the Binh Dinh Provincial Traffic Project Management Board as the investor.
This route runs parallel to National Highway 1, from Quy Nhon City to Hoai Nhon Town, and is expected to create a driving force for comprehensive development in the east of Binh Dinh Province. Currently, there are 3 component projects, including: Cat Tien - De Gi, De Gi - My Thanh, Lai Giang Bridge - Thien Chanh Bridge put into use with a total length of more than 38 km, total investment of more than 2,500 billion VND.
The coastal road of Binh Dinh province is a route connecting many tourist destinations of this province together.
According to the plan, the coastal road passing through Binh Dinh province has its starting point connecting with the coastal road of Quang Ngai province, its ending point connecting with the coastal road of Phu Yen province with a length of about 130 km. This route is designed according to the standards of a level 3 plain road with a design speed of 80 km/h, a roadbed width of 12 - 20.5 m, a road surface of asphalt concrete 17.5 m wide with 2 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for mixed vehicles, a 2 m wide median strip, and a 1 m wide earthen shoulder.
Investment in upgrading and expanding this coastal route is extremely necessary to effectively exploit and use marine and coastal resources, serve local socio-economic development, strengthen national defense and security to firmly protect the country's sovereignty.
The biggest highlight of this route is the De Gi sea-crossing bridge, nearly 400 m long, with an asphalt surface of more than 17 m wide and a traffic speed of about 80 km/h. The De Gi bridge has shortened the travel time from Cat Khanh commune (Phu Cat district) to My Thanh commune (Phu My district, Binh Dinh province) by more than 40 minutes. The people of My Thanh commune and Cat Khanh commune have been extremely happy since the De Gi bridge was completed.
Ms. Phan Thi Huong (27 years old, Khanh Loi village, Cat Khanh commune) shared: "Since the bridge was built, people's travel has become much more convenient. In the past, people had to take a very long detour, about 30 km, or take a boat. However, since the bridge was built, people's travel difficulties are gone." According to Ms. Huong, since the completion of this road, she no longer has to work as a worker because selling soft drinks on the roadside is enough to support her family.
Economic development boost
It can be said that the Cat Tien - My Thanh coastal route, which will be opened to traffic at the end of 2022, is a very important boost, creating a driving force for rapid and strong development for the coastal area of Phu Cat district in terms of urban space, technical infrastructure, and social infrastructure. Currently, the entire coastal area (Cat Tien town, Cat Khanh urban area, Cat Hai, Cat Thanh) has 100% of its planning completed and zoning and detailed planning have been established for the core urban areas of Cat Tien, Cat Khanh, and some advantageous areas.
De Gi Bridge connects My Thanh commune and Cat Khanh commune
The roads connecting to the coastal road also open up the direction for tourism development in Cat Tien town with the formation of a series of large urban and tourism infrastructure projects such as: Maia Quy Nhon Beach Resort, Trung Luong, Ban Mai, Cat Hai Bay, An Quang urban and coastal tourism area... "These are the foundations to strive for by 2030, the coastal urban area will make the greatest contribution to the economic development of Phu Cat district, with the spearhead being trade services, tourism, and urban development", Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Phu Cat District People's Committee, commented.
In addition, thanks to the good construction quality, along with the beautiful scenery along the route, DT.639 has gradually become a very familiar name for those who are passionate about "traveling" in and out of the province. Riding motorbikes and cars to experience the natural scenery on both sides of this route has gradually become popular. Recently, many tourist groups have visited this route.
From now until 2025, Binh Dinh aims to complete 120 km of coastal road from Quy Nhon to Hoai Nhon Town. The province is investing in 6 key traffic projects in the 2021 - 2025 period with a total investment of nearly 7,373 billion VND. Mr. Le Kim Toan, Standing Deputy Secretary of Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee, said that the 20th Binh Dinh Provincial Party Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term identified: Completing infrastructure to meet development needs is one of the 3 breakthroughs, which is important traffic infrastructure, going first, paving the way. Therefore, in the past time, the province has mobilized many resources to build and put into operation many traffic projects connecting regions in the province. In particular, coastal routes will create a boost for the tourism industry and tourism services.
On February 4, 2023, attending the inauguration ceremony of the coastal road in Binh Dinh, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated this road. "I just passed by and clearly saw that without this coastal road, both sides would be full of sand and hills; the coastal beaches and services could not be exploited. This is the value that the coastal road brings," said the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh noted that after completing the coastal road project, Binh Dinh province must plan in the spirit of building entertainment and tourism areas on the east side of the road. Industrial parks and urban areas will be planned on the west side of the road.
