The Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital has invested in building a spacious infrastructure system with a scale of 500 beds. The hospital's human resources currently have 475 staff, including many highly qualified doctors and pharmacists with rich professional experience. The medical equipment system has been invested in to basically meet the requirements of medical examination and treatment with a total of 163 types.
Currently, the hospital is in the process of receiving and preparing to put into use a new equipment package with a total investment of 216 billion VND, including advanced and modern equipment such as a 128-slice/rotation CT scan system; a 3-probe echocardiogram machine; a high-frequency ventilator (HFO); an integrated operating room system; an endoscopic surgery system with a set of instruments; a digital X-ray system, 2 flat sensors, etc.
Promoting the application of specialized techniques in the fields of obstetrics and pediatrics, the hospital regularly sends staff to study and transfer techniques at central hospitals and participate in long-term training programs to improve professional qualifications. At the same time, it implements specific policies to attract high-quality human resources and resident doctors to work at the hospital.
Currently, the hospital has performed more than 7,000 techniques, of which the rate of techniques according to the referral level is 43%, and the rate of techniques beyond the referral level is 8%. Some specialized techniques have been successfully implemented such as neonatal blood transfusion, sulfate injection, care of premature newborns, laparoscopic hysterectomy, placenta accreta, breast cancer surgery, etc.
In particular, the hospital has successfully performed in vitro fertilization (IVF) and welcomed the first baby born entirely using IVF at the hospital on November 6, 2024. The successful implementation of IVF at the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has affirmed the progress of the Vinh Phuc Health sector in the field of obstetrics and pediatrics, contributing to realizing the dream of becoming parents of infertile couples.
Meritorious physician, Doctor CKII To Quang Hung, Director of the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital said: “In 2024, the hospital examined nearly 61,000 people; treated nearly 24,000 inpatients. Recently, the hospital saved the life of a 23-year-old pregnant woman in Ho Son commune (Tam Dao) suffering from umbilical cord embolism. This is a very rare and dangerous case. Doctors took advantage of the golden time to save the mother's life and successfully performed a cesarean section at 28 weeks of age. Another case is Chu Phuong Thao, 5 years old in Yen Duong commune (Tam Dao) suffering from severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) who was treated promptly and recovered well. In 2024, many premature and underweight babies with dangerous diseases will also be actively treated and successfully nourished by the hospital's doctors and nurses."
With a system of modern equipment invested by the province, the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital continues to develop in the fields of andrology, genetics, fetal medicine, stem cells, and the development of anesthesia and resuscitation specialties...
At the same time, the hospital constantly improves the examination and treatment process; enhances service spirit and attitude; develops diverse health care services; gradually applies artificial intelligence (AI) technology with 2 robots programmed for use in the reception and guidance of people when they come to see a doctor to reduce human resources and improve service efficiency.
