When they saw the Tuoi Tre volunteers, many children who had just finished taking medicine ran out to the hallway to welcome them. They received gifts from Thuy's Dream program and excitedly thanked the teachers. Some were taking medicine, some were falling asleep, exhausted after chemotherapy sessions.

On the ceiling along the hallway, star lanterns stretch the path. The children are excited with the gifts they have received.

Mid-Autumn Festival comes gently like that to the unfortunate children here.

Many of them are familiar with the blue gift bags from Tuoi Tre newspaper, because some of them have been treated there for more than ten years. Some of them are excited to receive them for the first time.

Two brothers, Van Tuan K. (10 years old) and Van Dong Q. (7 years old), happily opened their gifts right after receiving them. Since 2020, when K. was discovered to be not growing in height and language, his family took him to the doctor and was diagnosed with a genetic metabolic disorder.

Then, baby Q. (K.'s younger brother) also suffered from the same syndrome as his brother.

The two brothers had to regularly go to Hanoi to receive infusions, each infusion costing more than 300 million VND. Shortly after, the Hanoi National Children's Hospital arranged for the two brothers to receive infusions at the Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

However, the family still has to go to Hanoi every two months to get the medicine directly. Because the medicine needs to be strictly preserved to avoid damage due to shaking.

Taking care of his two children in the hospital bed, Mr. Van Dinh T. - the children's father - shared: "This disease makes the children weaker and weaker, but there is still life, there is hope. This year is the first time the two children have received gifts from Thuy's Dream program.

On this 10th floor, most of the patients have serious illnesses, and their families' finances are very difficult. Receiving gifts from Tuoi Tre newspaper, I, as well as the parents of the other children, are very happy and thank the newspaper."

This year, Thuy's Dream program gave a total of 210 gifts to children with cancer in Da Nang. Of these, 30 gifts were given to the Oncology Hospital and 180 gifts were given to children at the Da Nang Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

The program hopes to bring joy and motivation to children fighting against diseases. Each gift is worth 500,000 VND, including milk, candy, moon cakes... and 200,000 VND in cash.
