26 years ago, Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang's teacher - Coach Vu Manh Cuong won the gold medal in the mixed doubles event at the 1997 SEA Games. The historic feat was repeated by Mai Ngoc and Anh Hoang after defeating two talented Singaporean athletes in the final match of the 32nd SEA Games.
