Arrested former Deputy Director of the Branch of the Land Registration Office of Bac Lieu City

On May 22, Mr. Le Hong Quan, Director of the People's Procuracy of Bac Lieu City (Bac Lieu) said that in the afternoon of the same day, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Lieu City Police coordinated with relevant units to implement the decision to prosecute the accused and issue an order to temporarily detain Mr. Duong Tan Thien (41 years old, former Deputy Director of the Branch of the Land Registration Office of Bac Lieu City), to investigate the act of irresponsibility causing serious consequences.

Mr. Thien currently holds the position of Deputy Head of the Administrative - General Department, under the Land Registration Office, under the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Bac Lieu.

On the same day, authorities searched Mr. Thien's residence and workplace to assist in the investigation.

Bac Lieu City Police deployed the decision to prosecute the accused and issue an arrest warrant for Mr. Duong Tan Thien.

According to initial information from the police, in 2019, the Bac Lieu City Land Registration Office Branch was irresponsible in performing its assigned tasks, incorrectly determining the location of the land plot to determine financial obligations on land. The consequence was a loss of state budget revenue of over 1.5 billion VND.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Lieu City Police continues to investigate and clarify the irresponsible behavior causing serious consequences for the former Deputy Director of the Branch of the Land Registration Office of Bac Lieu City.
