Arrest of suspect raping 84-year-old woman

On the afternoon of January 3, Bac Giang Provincial Police informed that Son Dong District Police had just temporarily arrested Nguyen Van Thu, (born in 1988, residing in An Ba village, An Ba commune, Son Dong district, Bac Giang province) to investigate the act of rape.

At around 4:30 a.m. on January 3, Ms. NTR, (84 years old, residing in An Ba commune, Son Dong district) was sleeping in her house when a stranger broke in, restrained her and raped her.

Immediately after receiving the report, Son Dong District Police organized forces to coordinate with functional agencies, local authorities, representatives of the victim's family and witnesses to organize an investigation of the scene, collect related documents and evidence.

At the same time, Son Dong District Police also summoned Nguyen Van Thu for investigation and verification.

At the police station, Thu initially admitted to committing the above rape. Currently, Son Dong District Police are temporarily detaining the subject, continuing to consolidate documents and evidence for processing.

Previously, in October 2023, the Vinh Linh District Police Investigation Department (Quang Tri) issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, and temporarily detain Tran Huu Hoan (born in 1972, residing in Phan Hien village, Vinh Son commune, Vinh Linh district) to investigate the act of rape.

According to the investigation, after drinking with a group of friends in the village, Hoan went to the house of Mrs. TTT (born in 1938, living in the same locality). Seeing that the door was unlocked, Hoan went in and saw Mrs. T. lying on the bed. At this time, Hoan gave Mrs. T. money to buy milk but she did not take it and told Hoan to go home.

After leaving for a while, Hoan returned to Mrs. T's house to have sex. When Mrs. T resisted, the subject strangled her and used a flashlight to hit her on the head. Due to her old age, the victim was unable to resist, so Hoan had sex with her. At around 5:00 a.m., Hoan left and returned home.

At 7am, Ms. T. asked her neighbor to tell her son to report the incident to the police.
