"I was only informed by my teachers that I had achieved the title of valedictorian before the graduation ceremony. At that time, I could hardly believe my ears. Even now, when I hold this prestigious degree in my hand, I still feel like I am living in a dream," Phong said.

Phong is originally from Nghe An, his family has 5 siblings, both parents are farmers. Since childhood, the boy has always been proactive and tried his best in studying. In high school, realizing that Information Technology is a promising field, suitable for his thinking and orientation, Phong determined to pursue it.

With 25.4 points in block A00, 10X passed the Software Engineering major, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Water Resources.

Nguyen Phi Phong graduated as valedictorian of the first batch of Thuyloi University in 2025.

In his first year at university, like many other students, Phong tried his hand at part-time jobs to gain experience. In his second year, realizing that he needed to focus more on his studies to achieve the best results, the male student decided to temporarily stop his part-time jobs and devote all his time to research and study.

Sharing about his study methods, Phong always clearly defines his goals and makes detailed plans for each semester and each subject. The male student especially focuses on self-study with two virtues: perseverance and diligence.

“For each subject, I always pay attention and take careful notes to grasp the knowledge. If there is any part I do not understand, I do not hesitate to ask the teacher right in class to clarify my questions,” Phong said that volunteering to speak is only for the purpose of building and understanding the lesson better, not for the purpose of earning points.

After class, the male student spends time reviewing the knowledge he has learned, making sure he understands and remembers what he has learned. In addition, Phong often participates in group study with his classmates to exchange and share knowledge. The 10X believes that group study is an effective method, because each person will have their own documents and study methods, helping each other supplement and clarify missing knowledge.

In his third year of university, Phong began his internship at a technology company specializing in software and website production. After 4 months of internship, with his constant efforts and dedication, the 10X was officially accepted by the company.

Phong said that the period of writing his graduation thesis was an extremely stressful challenge. During the day, the 10X had to focus on working at the company, solving practical tasks, and at night he would spend time completing his thesis. Despite the pressure, Phong always tried to maintain a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, telling himself not to give up.

"That period was quite stressful, but I never forced myself to work or study too hard. When I was tired, I would participate in other activities to regain my spirit," the male student said, adding that he had participated in many meaningful activities such as performing arts, donating blood, and volunteering, activities that Phong considered important factors in his personal growth and also contributed to his youth.

Phong's graduation thesis "Application of generative AI to build Chatbot for the Faculty of Information Technology, Thuy Loi University" was highly appreciated by Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Hung, Head of the Faculty of Information Technology of the university. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Hung, this is a professional topic, clearly demonstrating the innovative thinking, independent research ability as well as the solid technology foundation of the male student.

"Phong completed his thesis and graduated one semester ahead of his classmates. This is convincing evidence of his ability, serious learning spirit and tireless efforts," said Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Hung.

For the Nghe An male student, the title of valedictorian is not only a source of pride but also an important stepping stone on his future career path. In the near future, Phong plans to focus on his work, taking advantage of what he has learned to contribute and develop in a professional environment.

The male student also emphasized his special interest in developing professional knowledge, through updating and grasping new trends in the field of information technology. 10X believes that, even though he has completed his study program, the process of learning and self-development will never stop.
