Police have arrested three Korean men wanted by Interpol while they were hiding in Ho Chi Minh City.

On June 1, Ho Chi Minh City Police in coordination with the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05), the Ministry of Public Security and related units handed over Jeong Kiwon (born in 1974), Park Jaihyung (born in 1983) and Jang WooJin (born in 1980, all Korean nationals) who were internationally wanted for using high technology to commit crimes to the Korean side.

Three subjects were arrested

According to Interpol’s wanted list, all three of the above subjects created and operated online gambling and betting websites, operating the “Slot” game system on the Internet in Vietnam to make money. This is a gambling game, players deposit money to play and win or lose with money.

The group of people working together often communicate via the Telegram application and set messages to automatically delete during the day to avoid detection by authorities.

These subjects entered Vietnam to operate under the guise of being foreign investors and experts sponsored by a number of businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, legalizing their visa and temporary residence card applications. However, the subjects did not stay at the address declared upon entry but hid in many areas in Ho Chi Minh City, making it difficult for the police to investigate and pursue them.

Through professional activities, on May 22, the police arrested 3 subjects and a number of related people. The police seized many pieces of evidence related to the subjects' illegal activities.
