DTO - On the morning of February 14, the Provincial Farmers' Association held a conference to summarize the model "Dong Thap farmers reuse organic household waste and agricultural by-products to create biological products for production" in the province in 2024 (abbreviated as the IMO model).

According to the Provincial Farmers' Association, from the effectiveness of the IMO model piloted in Chau Thanh district in 2023, the Provincial Farmers' Association Standing Committee proposed that the Office of the National Target Program on New Rural Development and Agricultural Restructuring advise the Provincial People's Committee to provide financial support to replicate the model in 4 districts: Tan Hong, Tam Nong, Thanh Binh, Thap Muoi in 2024.

In the above districts, many direct training sessions were organized for 720 farmer members, from which members were trained to propagate, mobilize, and guide 1,140 households to apply IMO probiotics, making 19,550 liters of liquid IMO probiotics and 23,155 kg of dry IMO probiotics. In addition, 317 farmer member households applied to make 7,700 kg of organic fertilizer from agricultural by-products (straw, rice husks, etc.), mobilizing 11,337 farmer member households in 56 communes to participate in the model of collecting and classifying waste at households.

The number of IMO liquid and dry IMO probiotics used to treat odors in the air in toilets at 110 schools, treat odors at 12 markets and 3 public landfills. At the same time, applying in the production of vegetables, fruit trees (mango, jackfruit, longan, durian), medicinal plant gardens... of members and farmers has initially brought practical results, especially members and farmers highly appreciated the effectiveness of the IMO model when deployed locally. In particular, after learning from experience and realizing the effectiveness of the IMO model in Chau Thanh district, the Cao Lanh City Farmers' Association and the Cao Lanh District Farmers' Association coordinated with relevant agencies to organize training courses and mobilize members and farmers to apply the IMO model in agricultural production in the locality.

In the coming time, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the area will continue to promote, support and guide members and farmers to deploy the IMO model to achieve three main goals: helping farmer members and farmers produce cleanly, in an organic and circular direction; handle environmental pollution issues; create agricultural output from clean, organic production related to agricultural production in the province.
