DTO - On the morning of February 14, in Can Tho City, the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development coordinated with Sorimachi Vietnam Co., Ltd. to organize a conference to attract investment, apply digital transformation technology, and green transformation to implement the Project "Sustainable development of one million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030".
Attending the conference were Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam; Dong Thap province had Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phuoc Thien.

According to the Vietnam Rice Industry Association, the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission, green growth rice maintains the core role of rice production to ensure national food security. At the same time, developing agriculture in the Mekong Delta in a sustainable, natural direction, increasing income for rice growers; reorganizing the production system according to the rice industry chain, increasing added value throughout the chain, applying sustainable farming processes that adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, etc.
Over the past time, the implementation of the 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission, green growth rice project has focused on upgrading infrastructure, improving logistics and innovation centers, and improving technical packages based on the 1 must 5 reductions technique; supporting the reorganization of household production through strengthening farmer organizations and cooperatives; training and technology transfer to farmers on sustainable farming, farm management, applying digital technology and other related areas including: monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon credits (MRV). The project also mobilizes domestic and international financial and technical resources, including the results-based Climate and Carbon Support Fund (RBC/CF) to support low-carbon rice production and implement an MRV system to issue carbon credits to low-carbon rice growing areas; Improve domestic ecosystems to support the transition to high-quality, low-carbon rice, including access to finance, results-based carbon payment mechanisms, benefit-sharing mechanisms, etc.
At the conference, delegates and experts analyzed many important contents such as: assessing investment needs, applying technology in digital transformation and green transformation in cooperatives and linked value chains; sharing lessons learned from the results of the pilot project on digital transformation and green transformation of agriculture in the Mekong Delta; introducing advanced technologies from Japanese enterprises to support cooperatives in optimizing production. At the same time, representatives of international agencies and organizations presented opportunities for cooperation and technical support, creating a premise for new initiatives in the rice industry.
One of the important highlights of the conference was to honor cooperatives in the Project leading in innovation with the Award "Pioneering cooperative applying digital transformation software".
In addition, the conference contributes to creating momentum to promote investment, cooperation and application of digital technology in agriculture, helping cooperatives and farmers access advanced solutions to improve productivity, reduce emissions and increase the value of agricultural products. This is also an opportunity to establish long-term cooperative relationships, support localities and cooperatives to effectively implement sustainable rice production models, meeting the requirements of domestic and international markets...
