The program “Lighting up the sea with fishermen” organized by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper aims to propagate and raise awareness of law compliance for fishermen when fishing and exploiting at sea; contribute to implementing the Action Plan to remove the IUU yellow card issued by the Prime Minister; and develop the Vietnamese seafood industry more sustainably.

At the same time, encourage and support fishermen to stay at sea to earn a living, improve their lives. Promote patriotism and love for the sea and islands to fishermen and the community, arouse feelings and sense of responsibility to protect the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland. Raise people's awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development of resources from the sea.
The program was accompanied by Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, former Politburo member, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Vietnam Fisheries Association; Border Guard Command; Coast Guard Command; Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Department; leaders of People's Committees, Fatherland Front Committees of provinces/cities, and local Fisheries Associations. The program is expected to be held in 28 coastal provinces and cities across the country for three years, from 2023 to 2025.
Sharing about the significance of the program “Lighting up the sea with fishermen”, fisherman Truong Van Trai, Can Thanh District Fisheries Association, said he was very happy to receive a meaningful gift from the program of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper. At the same time, he expressed his hope that fishermen will receive more attention in the future, which is also a motivation for fishermen to be determined to stick to the sea, maintaining the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
